Greetings to music enthusiasts and my lovely readers, let’s welcome Glen Millstone to our blog. Kieran McMahon’s new songwriting alias is Glen Millstone. Because he formed The Boundary Park, the resident band for Oldham Athletic and Oldham RLFC, Kieran is well-known in his hometown of Oldham. On 14th February, he released a song called “I’ve a Way”. The song opens with this acoustic, soft, and surprisingly a little country in the beginning. Listeners get a taste of the richness of the song that is about to start
Like Bob Dylan, Ron Sexsmith, or Elvis Costello, the vocal performance alternates between nearly spoken passages and lovely melodic hooks. Immediately empowering, the chorus line “I have A Way” references a strong-headed character, a young man who, like a young Pete Townshend, refuses to accept what he was being taught and just wants to “get on home and pick up my guitar.” This character has it all figured out and is not ready to take any advice
Pete Maher masterfully mastered the song. An isolated drum kick that is evocative of “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” by The Beach Boys enters the song, which starts with simply an acoustic guitar and a basic strumming rhythm. With Jeff Lynne (ELO)-)-style backup vocals, the score deftly builds to a powerful chorus. With the steady hand of Gus Tuner of Gafro Studios in Ellan, the sound was created. There is an unexpected acoustic guitar break occurs in the song, which is followed by a brass section (performed by professional brass players and old school friends Adam Stretton and James Atkins) and ends with two enormous choruses accompanied by a whirring organ.
Milestone has made a very beautiful song with the help of other talented musicians. This song dares us to make our own way instead of listening to others. This song proves that he is a talented artist and I can’t wait to hear more music from him
