Hello to all my devoted readers and music lovers. Today we welcome English ZACHARY MASON back to our blog. Mason is no stranger to our blog, his songs “Fathers” and “Sweet Girl” are songs we are not over and will not be over anytime soon. On 25th July, he released a song called “The Funky Martians”. Let’s go through the song together
The song starts off with a funky guitar melody, which is later mixed with delightful drum beats. This alone is enough to convince you to listen to the restaurant in the song. Let’s talk a little about the theme of the song. This song is the second track on an upcoming EP called 5…4…3…2…1…, which tells a very compelling story of humanity escaping a wrecked Earth for the red sands of Mars to form a new colony! In this track, issued to promote the EP, a colony ship arrives on Mars only to be met by hostile Martians!, Then Johnny, a character in the song, makes a mistake and offers them cake. The song then tells us how a still terrified Johnny, turned on the radio instead of a weapon. Fortunately, the Martians loved what they were hearing and began to dance. The humans had to keep the music going to distract the Martians while they were settling in. The song humorously describes how the Martians are appeased thanks to a lucky accident!
The track has elements of space, psychedelic, and experimental rock. Nate Barnes, a member of the critically regarded rock band Rose Hill Drive, performed drums, while John Thomasson, a member of Little Big Town, played bass. The vocal performance really suited the instrumentation
Do not worry if you have not seen a Martian before or do not know they are portrayed in art and media because the song cover art shows you what a Martian looks like. The art shows the Martian with headphones on, This is a callback to the fact that the Martians really loved Earth music. Another thing listeners will hear is how the artist spoke “Martian”. It was a very immersive and excellent choice by the artist to really bring listeners into that headspace to understand the song and laugh at or along with it
Mason surprises me with every release of his. This song had a funny and unforgettable story. The instrumentation and vocal performance were incredible and highly entertaining.
