There is always something magical about Mick J. Clark grabbing our attention again, a true icon of our site, one that deserves all the fame he can get for himself and his work. There is always something enchanting about how this artist works, something mystical and amazing about his ability to write songs that bypass your barriers without you even noticing, get right under your skin, and stay there for days after the last note has been played. All it takes is to go back and remember the incredible joy of “It’s Christmas Party Time,” the majestic glory of “Sing Glory Glory Hallelujah,” the sheer power of his masterpiece, “Pole Position,” and the incredible warmth of “Anuther Sunny Hulliday.” However, Clark is not only a songwriter but also a mastermind who teaches how to compose music that is not only entertaining but also very significant. Now, Clark brings back his new hit “This Life is Unforging,” which was released on April 28, an occasion we have all been awaiting with bated breath. Let’s begin.
The song starts with an engaging and enchanting melody from the guitar. The guitar sounds embrace you as soon as you start listening to the song. However, the real attraction lies in that very instant when Mick J. Clark comes up on the microphone and lets his voice be heard in the air. His voice carries an undeniable sense of gravity and elegance and leaves you rooted on the spot, unable to move an inch until you hear the whole story that he is going to tell you.
The initial melody paves the way for the true meaning of life, for whenever we mention the essence of the song, it means nothing else than a unique moral compass of a one-of-a-kind artist named Mick J. Clark. “This Life Is Unforgiving” is a heartfelt cry for humanity, which reminds everyone of the importance of radical kindness and the need to place love before the constant chase of money at any cost. He sees everything clearly, addressing people who are acting “cruelly”. No matter what kind of tempest we find ourselves in life, Clark tells us that kindness is the greatest currency. Similar to Jessie J’s classic hit song, it’s never been about the money; it’s all about authentic connections with others, and nothing else. From a rational point of view, the cruel world may try to make you believe that money is better than kindness; however, ultimately, an act of kindness will take you farther than any amount of money ever will.
As for the production, Clark shows once again why he is truly a master of his art, covering his deep message with a sonic background that seems to be both extremely personal and extremely majestic at the same time. This song is extremely simple and clean-sounding, and each detail and instrument in this production gets enough space to convey the message in the most powerful way possible. Guitars add warmth to the song without taking up too much space, and these little details, such as the very charming whistle at the beginning of the song, give a special touch to the track which cannot be created by using the latest digital techniques. Each component of this production sounds in the right balance in order to make sure that his vocals can sound like the beating and shining heart of the entire song.
And Clark has once again proven that he knows how to create. Truly and completely honestly, I must say that I admire him even more this time around. It is the mark of real, enduring art that a track released way back in 2011 can be as relevant as it is now; it sounds much more magical now than it did way back then. It is the magic of his music, something that just lifts you inside your chest and makes you feel happy no matter what life throws at you. The magic of his genius never wears off, and I’m already counting the days till I can hear what amazing creation he creates for us next!
