American singer and songwriter Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao (/kəˈmiːlə kəˈbeɪoʊ/; Latin American ˈkaɾla kaˈmila kaˈβeʝo esˈtɾabao]) was born on March 3, 1997.Her rise to fame came from her membership in Fifth Harmony, one of the all-time best-selling girl groups. With the release of her joint singles “I Know What You Did Last Summer” with Shawn Mendes and “Bad Things” with Machine Gun Kelly—the latter of which peaked at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100—Cabello started to establish herself as a solo artist while she was a member of Fifth Harmony. In late 2016, she departed from the group.

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

Cabello was born in Cojímar, Havana, Cuba, in the Habana del Este neighbourhood to Sinuhe Estrabao and Alejandro Cabello. Her father is from Mexico and was born there before relocating to Cuba. Sofia is the name of her younger sister.Cabello spent the majority of her early years travelling back and forth between Mexico City and Havana with her family.

At the age of six, Cabello moved to Miami, Florida, along with her mother. They crossed the border from Mexico into the US and travelled there for 36 hours on a Greyhound bus. After only one day at the border, they were allowed to enter the US. They moved into the home of Cabello’s grandfather’s colleague, who would later become her godmother. Cabello’s mother informed her that she was going to Disneyworld as a means of encouraging her to visit the US. Cabello’s mother studied English at night classes. After joining the family about 18 months later, Cabello’s father, who was unable to get a visa at the time, worked as a car wash attendant in front of Dolphin Mall.

After some time, she had saved up enough cash to move into a flat  and leave her father’s colleague’s home. Eventually, Cabello’s parents founded a construction company bearing Sofia’s and Camila’s names.In 2008, Cabello became an American citizen.In order to focus on her singing career, Cabello left Miami Palmetto High School during the 2012–13 academic year, when she was in the ninth grade. CAREER

Camila Cabello performed Aretha Franklin’s “Respect” on her TV talent competition audition in Greensboro, North Carolina;but because the series did not obtain the song’s rights, her audition was not broadcast. Cabello, Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren Jauregui, and Dinah Jane were summoned back to the stage to form the girl group that would ultimately be known as Fifth Harmony after being eliminated during the “bootcamp” section of the competition in Miami, Florida.They got a combined record deal with L.A. Reid’s Epic Records and Simon Cowell’s Syco Music after placing third on the show.

The group released the EP Better Together (2013) along with the studio albums Reflection (2015) and 7/27 (2016). The latter two generated the singles “Worth It” and “Work from Home”, respectively, which reached the top 10 in several international charts.From 2013 through the end of 2016, Cabello performed in various tours with Fifth Harmony. In November 2015, Cabello collaborated with Canadian singer Shawn Mendes on a duet titled “I Know What You Did Last Summer”, a song they wrote together.The single charted at number 20 in the US and 18 in Canadaand was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

On December 18, 2016, Fifth Harmony announced Cabello’s departure, with both sides giving contradictory explanations of the circumstances for her exit.

In May 2017, Cabello announced the future release of her first studio album, at the time titled The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving., which she described as “the story of my journey from darkness into light, from a time when I was lost to a time when I found myself again”.Her debut solo single “Crying in the club was released on May 19, 2017, followed by a performance at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards.The single peaked at number 47 in the United States. She joined Bruno Mars 24K Magic Tout as an opening act for several shows in 2017 and partnered with clothing brand Guess as the face of their 2017 Fall campaign.

Her debut album, Camila, is a pop record with ballads and songs with Latin influences. On January 12, 2018, Camila was released. With 119,000 album-equivalent units—of which 65,000 came from pure album sales—she debuted at number one in the US.throughout the end, the album received a platinum certification throughout the nation.

Familia was published on April 8, 2022, and it was accompanied with a “immersive performance” on TikTok called “Familia: Welcome to the Family,” a virtual concert. Critics gave Familia favourable reviews; NME,The Guardian and Rolling Stone all gave it four out of five stars. NME’s Nick Levine gave the album a high review, calling it “[Cabello’s] richest and most compelling album yet,” delving into the artist’s past and mental state. 

In July 2019, she started dating Canadian musician Shawn Mendes. Both parties were accused of trying to establish a relationship for publicity, which sparked criticism around the connection.Mendes asserted that it was “definitely not a publicity stunt” notwithstanding .Once their song “Señorita” was out, the relationship was officially confirmed.Cabello and Mendes declared their split in November 2021.As co-lead in Cinderella, Cabello and Austin Kevitch, the CEO of Lox, were friends, and in August 2022, Cabello started dating Kevitch .It was revealed in February 2023 that the two had split up.
