Cece Winas (American Gospel Music Singer)

Cece Winas BIOGRAPHY

Priscilla Marie Winans Love, also known as CeCe Winans, was born on October 8, 1964, in the United States. Winans has received more prizes than any other female gospel singer in history, including 31 GMA Dove prizes, 17 Stellar Awards, 7 NAACP Image Awards, 15 Grammy Awards, and induction as one of the first members of the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame. One of the greatest gospel performers of all time, Winans is also the genre’s most celebrated and successful performer.

Winans was born on October 8, 1964, in Detroit, Michigan, to Delores and David Winans.[6] She is one of ten kids. All of the music her parents listened to was gospel, and they were members of the Church of God in Christ. At age 8, she sang her first solo song.[7]

Winans first visited Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1981 to perform on the Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker-hosted Christian television programme The PTL Club. CeCe and her older brother BeBe were once members of the bigger Winans family singing group, but after receiving great feedback for their rendition of the song “Up Where We Belong” performed as a duet with the lyrics altered for Christian listeners, they split off to form a pair while attending PTL. Lord Lift Us Up, CeCe and Bebe’s debut album, was released in 1984 on PTL Records. They eventually released nine Gold and Platinum records under the BeBe & CeCe Winans moniker, enjoying crossover success.[8]

In 1984, Winans quit PTL immediately before getting hitched. In 1985, her brother emigrated. BeBe & CeCe Winans, their second album, was released in 1987. Only two gospel albums, Aretha Franklin’s Amazing Grace and BeBe & CeCe Winans’ Different Lifestyles, have sold more than a million copies. BeBe & CeCe Winans are the first gospel musicians to achieve this feat.

With the 1995 release of Alone in His Presence, Winans launched her solo career. Only the third gospel album by a performer had more than a million copies sold. CeCe and her brother BeBe also share the distinction of having the first gospel album by a gospel performer to achieve platinum. She won a Grammy Award for “Alone In His Presence” and two Dove Awards, including Female Vocalist of the Year. The Gold-certified Everlasting Love, Winans’ second album, came out in 1998 and included her highest-charting solo singles, “Well Alright” and “Slippin.” R&B singer Lauryn Hill wrote and produced the album’s song “On That Day.” Winans issued His Gift, a holiday CD, later that year.

Winans founded PureSprings Gospel, her own record label, in 1999. Alabaster Box, her debut album for the company, was released in 1999. Fred Hammond, a musician and gospel vocalist, contributed to some of the disc’s production. Take 6 made a special appearance. Live at the Lambs Theatre in New York is the name of a concert VHS that Winans released in 2000. She sang songs from her earlier albums during the show. CeCe Winans, her subsequent album, was released in 2001. GRITS made a cameo appearance on the tune “Anybody Wanna Pray”. “Say A Prayer,” the second single, entered the market for contemporary Christian music.

After a two-year hiatus from album releases, Winans made a comeback in 2003 with Throne Room. Exclusive interviews with the artist, behind-the-scenes material from the CD’s production, tour footage, and the music video for “More Than What I Wanted” (which was taken from the 2001 release) were all included on the bonus CD that was included with the first 1,000 copies. Free admission was offered during the 25-city Throne Room tour with the band Anointed in 2004, and the show from Tennessee was later released on DVD. There were songs on Live in the Throne Room from each of Winans’ albums. Winans went to the hospital right away for surgery after what she initially believed to be the flu turned out to be a major stomach infection in September 2004. because of the prolonged recuperation

Let Them Fall in Love, Winans’ tenth album, was released in 2017, and it earned her two Grammy Awards for Best Gospel Performance/Song and Best Gospel Album. Believe for It, the debut live worship album by Winans that was released in 2021, was nominated for three further Grammy Awards (including Best Gospel Album) in April 2022.[12]
