Ckay (Nigerian Singer)
Chukwuka Ekweani (born July 16, 1995), better known by his stage name Ckay, is a Nigerian Afrobeats singer, songwriter, and record producer.
Ekwean a.k.a Ckay was born to Dr. and Mrs. Ekweani in Chukwuka, Kaduna State, Nigeria. His first encounter with music occurred when he was seven years old, when his father, who was a church choir conductor at the time, exposed him to the art of music. At the age of 13, he began producing and writing music.
In 2014, Ckay relocated to Lagos and began working with Chocolate City Music as a production intern in early 2015, while there he worked at the studio until later in the same year he was signed Loopy Music which merged with Chocolate City when MI became the C.E.O. His production debut was “Third Mainland Bridge” which featured MI &Moti Cakes on the TICBN vol. 1 album.
He was also featured by MI on “The box” with Pryse- Illegal Music 3
Following many productions and songwriting for various artistes within and outside the label, his skill got the acknowledgements of the A&R’s and the value of Ckay as an artist was beginning to shine through.
He officially was approached with the offer and signed to the label in August 2016.
Ckay has amassed a fortune in a short time as one of Africa’s leading singers, thanks to his live performances and the royalties produced by his record. His net worth is estimated to be between US$2 million and US$5 million.
