Gyakie BIOGRAPHY

Ghanaian R&B and afro-fusion singer Jackline Acheampong, better known by her stage name Gyakie, also goes by Song Bird. She was born on December 16, 1999.Gyakie’s debut track, “Love is Pretty,” which she released in 2019 helped to create the path for her second single, “Never Like This.” Her claim to fame came in August 2020 when the song “Forever” from her five-track EP “Seed” began to receive airplay and top the charts in Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria. The father of Gyakie is Nana Acheampong.

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

Gyakie was born and reared in Kumasi, Ghana’s Ashanti Region. She attended T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School in Kumasi and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for her undergraduate studies, majoring in international business.

CAREER

Gyakie was raised in a musical family and began working with her father in the studio at the age of eight.Asa and R2Bees musician Omar Sterling, who is from Ghana, have had an influence on her music.

The first track Gyakie released was “Love is Pretty” in February of 2019, followed by “Never Like This.” In August 2020, she dropped a five-track EP called Seed.Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria all had airplay of the Seed EP’s “Forever” song. It peaked at the top of several music charts, including Shazam’s Top 200 and Billboard’s Top Triller Global.In March 2021, Gyakie and Omah Lay, a Nigerian singer, released a remix of “Forever”. She was named the 2021 3Music Awards’ emerging lady of the year at the 2021 3Music Women’s Brunch in the same month.

Gyakie appeared in a June 2022 episode of Grammys Herbal tea and White Sofas, a new series in which performers discuss their essential backstage items. In July 2022, she released “My Diary,” her second EP. Davido, a musician from Nigeria, appears on the EP.
