Andy Samberg BIOGRAPHY

Andy Samberg is an American actor, comedian, writer, producer, and musician. He was born David A. J. Samberg on August 18, 1978. Joining him in the comedy music trio The Lonely Island are two of his childhood pals, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer. From 2005 until 2012, Samberg was a cast member and writer for the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live. He and his fellow cast members are credited with popularising the SNL Digital Shorts during their tenure.

 

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION 

 

On August 18, 1978, Samberg was born in Berkeley, California.[2] His father, Joe Samberg, is a photographer at the moment, and his mother, Marjorie “Margi” (née Marrow), is a retired educator who worked at John Muir Elementary School.[5] Darrow and Johanna are his two sisters.[6] He told his parents he wanted to alter his name to Andy when he was five years old.(7)(8) Despite coming from a Jewish family, Samberg describes himself as “not particularly religious”. He is of Italian descent as well.In [9]10]11][12] He went to Chabot Elementary School [13] with Chelsea Peretti, who would later co-star in Brooklyn Nine Nine.In [14]

After graduating from Berkeley High School in 1996, Samberg developed a passion for creative writing. He has said that his writing classes “were the ones that [he] put all [his] effort into… that’s what [he] cared about and that’s what [he] ended up doing”.19] He spent two years of his college career at the University of California, Santa Cruz[20] before transferring to the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University (NYU), from which he graduated in 2000.21] Murray Miller, a writer, was his flatmate at NYU.21]

CAREER

Samberg studied experimental film as a major. Along with his buddies Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, he created his own comedic videos and rose to fame on the internet.23] YouTube was founded in 2005, and since then, more people have been streaming their videos. Samberg’s work on his sketch comedy website TheLonelyIsland.com helped them obtain an agent and eventually get employed at Saturday Night Live, and as a result, he was featured on the show.24]

Samberg costarred in That’s My Boy with Adam Sandler and gave the Harvard University Class Day speech in 2012[25]. He played Jonathan, the title character of Hotel Transylvania, which he returned to in Hotel Transylvania 2 and Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation.(26] Samberg played Cuckoo in the September 2012 episode of the BBC Three series Cuckoo, which was nominated for a BAFTA award[27]. Later that year, on September 17, of that same year, he got the role of Detective Jake Peralta in the police sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Fox (later NBC).(28) For his performance as Peralta, Samberg was awarded the 2014 Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy. On September 20, 2015, Samberg served as host of the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards.29][/30](31 )

Samberg debuted as a featured player and writer on Saturday Night Live in September 2005.Despite having few live sketch roles during his first year, he had numerous taped appearances in sketches, including commercial parodies and other filmed portions.He co-starred in the Digital Short “Lazy Sunday” on December 17, 2005, alongside fellow cast member Chris Parnell. The show featured a hip-hop song called “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” which is about a desire to see the movie.Samberg received a great deal of media and public attention for the short, which went on to become an Internet sensation.

PERSONAL LIFE
Samberg is wed to Joanna Newsom, a musician. They first met during one of her concerts, and he used to refer to himself as a “superfan”.(37)37] Following a five-year courtship, Samberg proposed to her in February 2013. The couple wed in Big Sur, California on September 21, 2013[39][40][41], with Samberg’s groomsman being Saturday Night Live co-star Seth Meyers.42] The Moorcrest home, located in the Beachwood Canyon neighbourhood of Los Angeles, California, was owned by actress Mary Astor’s parents in the 1920s and was previously rented by Charlie Chaplin before Samberg and Newsom bought it in March 2014[43]. The pair also owns a house in West Village, Manhattan.In [44] On August 8, they made their daughter’s birth public.
