Strong, Cecily Legler (born February 8, 1984)is a comedian and actress from America. Strong’s most well-known role was as a cast member of Saturday Night Live, an NBC sketch comedy series, which ran from 2012 until 2022.She is the female cast member with the longest tenure in the history of the programme.


Strong grew up in Oak Park, an inner-ring neighbourhood of Chicago, after being born in Springfield, Illinois to Penelope and William “Bill” Strong, who managed his own public relations company in 2013 after serving as the chief bureau chief for the Associated Press,Penny Legler Strong is a nurse practitioner who has a lot of experience working at local hospitals. Strong has a divorced parents Strong was an SNL aficionado who watched old SNL advertisements on VHS and acted out routines with her friend.“I had a tape of the best commercials, and I wore it out, every day.” She claimed that Phil Hartman was her inspiration.

Cecily went to a private Catholic school before moving to the Chicago Academy for the Arts for her final year, from where she earned her degree in 2002.She subsequently pursued acting studies at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), where she earned a BFA in theatre in 2006.Strong went back to Chicago after graduating to continue her education at iO Chicago and the Second City Conservatory.


On September 15, 2012, Strong made her Saturday Night Live debut as a featured performer.Beginning with the season 39 premiere, Strong joined the repertory team the next season and co-anchored the Weekend Update segment with Seth Meyers. Later on, Strong co-anchored with Colin Jost.After that, she was replaced on Weekend Update by writer Michael Che, starting with the September 2014 premiere of season 40, in part because she wanted to concentrate on doing sketches as a regular cast member.

Though she missed the first three episodes of the season because she was reprising her role in the play The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe in Los Angeles, Strong returned to Saturday Night Live for season 48 and overtook former co-star Kate McKinnon as the longest-running female cast member in the show’s history.The episode from October 29, 2022, featured her reappearance. With her final show on December 17, 2022, Strong broke McKinnon’s record.

This Will All Be Over Soon, her memoir debut, was released on August 10, 2021. It discusses “the challenges of beginning in a relationship during the pandemic; the pain of losing family and friends; the pivotal events of her life that shaped her; and the importance of gratitude for each passing day.” It originated from a post she wrote for Vulture.com in 2020, which talked about her grief over her cousin Owen’s death from brain cancer during the COVID-19 epidemic.

She produced and starred in the musical parody series Schmigadoon! on Apple TV+. Created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, with production handled by Lorne Michaels of Saturday Night Live, the show revolves around a couple (Strong and Keegan-Michael Key) who are stranded in a 1940s studio musical town until they discover “true love”.
