Hello to all my devoted readers and music fans. Let us give it up to English artist VOLTSTORM. “Break the Silence” is Voltstorm’s most ambitious and explosive release. The ten-song album blends melodic power metal and a modern edge. This album was released on 20th September. Let me take you through it
The album’s title is “STORMCHASER”. This song opens with thunderstorm sounds, which are followed by these explosive guitar sounds. When the beat drops, I promise you, you are going to lose your mind. This song made me feel like I was in the middle of a storm, shredding my guitar when I knew that I couldn’t play a single note. That is what good music does isn’t it?, It pushes us to dream and have imagination and that is exactly what this song does. What a way to open the album
The next song on the album is called “JUDAS”. This next song opens with a crazy guitar riff. The persona in the song is accusing someone of betrayal by using the name of the most famous betrayer of all time Judas Iscariot. Aside from the amazing vocals, the song got me buzzing and vibrating on an inhuman frequency and I love that for me. I invite you to listen to this song and experience this feeling for yourself
“WAKE ME UP” is the third song on this record. Opening with a fantastic guitar/ drum melody, this song illustrates a person who is letting everyone know that he cares, and when the time for action comes, he is ready to fight, all they need to do is call on him, and, he’d be there(”I’m ready, wake me up, I’m not dead inside”). The vocals were crazy good and the instrumentation was inhuman and fantastic. Wow, what a song!!
“LAMBS” is up next. This song’s intro was leaking awesomeness throughout. Wanna rock out? Wanna live out your rockstar fantasy? This song is for you. The song examines how sometimes we are lambs to the slaughter and don’t know that this is the end we are going to meet. This is a song I would love to lip-sync and rock out to!
Next is the song “EYE OF THE STORM” This song follows in the vein of the rest of the album’s genre. In the song, a character is welcoming people into the thick of it. The character informs everyone that this is the highest point they could ever get to. This is a song I would love to hear live, in person, and jump around to my heart’s content. This was a song you can’t sit still to, it moves you and you just groove to the sound
Up next is the track “EVIL EYES” This song slows the album down, a bit in the beginning but it suddenly gets upbeat again. This song was so electrifying that, I got full-body chills listening to it. I was in awe of this song because, I have never had this much fun with this song, more than I have ever had
“RISE ABOVE” is the track that comes up next. This song took me by surprise when it started. It has this heartfelt guitar melody. This song is about a person who has risen above adversity. The change of tempo in the song is subtle but profound. We can say that the character was unsure about himself or something critical but when the tempo changes, we can see this character, reclaiming his power and being sure of who he is. I loved this song and its metaphorical instrumentation.
“BREAK THE SILENCE” is the title of the next song on this album. The song is upbeat and exciting right from the start. This song is a powerhouse and I don’t mean that instrumentally. The character in the song is tired of being quiet and crying in his pain and, he has decided to stand tall and talk back to his oppressors(”break the silence, don’t shed no tears, it’s time to speak up”). This song couldn’t have come at an opportune time, when we feel so pressured by society that we become or remain voiceless. This song was such an eye-opening and powerful song that we needed to stand up and speak up
Up next is a song called “BLACK CAGE”. This song opens in a bright yet soft way, before it gets upbeat. The song talks about a persona who is in a black cage (”I am in the black cage”). From connotation alone, you can tell that this character is not in a good place and seems helpless about it. The vocals rocked and the instrumentation was so delicious that I needed to repeat it over and over again so that I would not forget it
The last song on the album is called “Destroyer”. When this song started, I was blown away. The instrumentation was just mind-blowing and exciting. The song describes a destroyer that came out of nowhere and started wrecking everything (”came out of nowhere”). This song was so amazing. The vocals were astounding and the melody was incredible. It was everything I expected and more. This was the perfect way to end the album
What an album!!. The album, filled with soaring vocals, shredding solos, and anthemic hooks, combines old metal influences with fresh, contemporary production. From the thunderous explosion of “Destroyer” to the emotional impact of “Wake Me Up,” Voltstorm delivered a stadium-ready metal with purpose and passion. This is a ten out of ten album that I implore everyone to check out because it was worth the time and an unforgettable experience
