Greetings dearest gentle readers and music lovers. Today, all the spotlight is on the talented Jonny Corralitos. Jonny grew up in a teepee with his brother, living off-grid on a commune in Corralitos, CA, a remote Santa Cruz Mountain idyll surrounded by towering weed fields and even taller redwood trees. Jonny comes our way today with a song called “Over Before It’s Begun,” which was released on 30th April. Let’s talk more about it

The song opens with a funky groove and an exciting melody, which will make you feel like dancing right there and then, I know it because, I myself, began to foot tap.

The song celebrates the lovely ephemeral aspect of guy meets girl, before it escalates into a girl leaves boy situation (” it’s over before it’s begun, but at least you had your fun”). This song glorifies unattachment and stable relationships but, it’s a defense mechanism to protect yourself, lest you get hurt. On the other hand, love is war and not putting yourself out there and taking a risk when it comes to relationships, you have not given your relationships a fighting chance which is unfair to you, your heart, and your partner.

The fast rhythms and gorgeous “oohs” build up to an extremely catchy chorus, reminiscent of Pavement and the Lemonheads. Here, Jonny demonstrates his giant rhythm guitar talents, which burst on the choruses, propelling the song from indie pop to straight-up, unapologetically joyful rock ‘n roll.

This song really brings the heat and Why the hell not? After all, we are just vessels merely travelling through the realm of sound, we gotta buckle up and Enjoy the ride. I love Jonny’s style and I will never forget this awesome song. Jonny is a superstar and I am excited to see where he is headed!
