Greetings dearest gentle readers and music lovers let’s welcome Netherlands-based artist Disdarken back to our blog. Disdarken is a joint venture between Alan V. Niculae and Nick Carmine, based in Tilburg, Netherlands. They first ventured into the worlds of LoFi and Synthwave music during the trying COVID-19 pandemic. Their songs “Droid,” “a part from darkness” and “far from home” were spectacular and the amazing duo is back again with another song called “Keep the dark inside” which was released on 25th May. Let’s talk more about the song
The song opens with a dark and eerie melody that suits the message of the music. Nick Carmine’s haunting dream inspired the song, giving it a personal and melancholy tone. The persona in this song has accepted that he has a certain darkness within him(“I keep the dark inside”). This persona assures his partner that he or she is the one who keeps his darkness at bay and for that, he promises to be true to him or her(“I will be true”). This song also touches on a character who is in the midst of a school shooting but upon getting close to the shooter, the character realizes in a shocking twist of events that, he is in fact, the shooter
The song opens with this dark vibe and although later, the tempo picks up, it still maintains its mysterious nature, with a killer vocal performance that is exceptionally good. “Keep The Dark Inside” is a crucial work in their repertoire, providing a glimpse into the subject’s depth and emotional complexity. As I got more familiar with these artists, I realized how talented they are. I am in awe of this duo and I am looking forward to hearing more and more of their music
