Ladies, gentlemen and music fans. I present to you US artist Olivia Millin. Millin is a rising pop singer-songwriter whose catchy sound combines young vitality with cinematic grandeur. On 12th September, she released a single titled “Soul for the taking”. Let’s talk more about the song.
The song opens with an emotive and soulful piano melody. You don’t need a prophet to tell you that this song is going to be the bomb, because of this intro.
Lyrically, the song sets the scene for a persona who is alone and drunk one night. She then meets a supernatural creature. Now, the song that mention which monster this character met but, this monster was going to take a bite out of her and steal her soul. Not only do they plan to steal her soul, they promise to send her to the afterlife. This song is like an episode of Scooby Doo and the gang, except that, in this situation, the monster isn’t a human wearing a mask.
Let’s talk more about production.”Soul for the Taking,” produced by Suite Dreamz and Kevin Charge and written by Millin herself, combines Olivia’s theatrical flair with her dance-pop inspirations to create a melancholy yet light-hearted piece that is both spine-tingling and club-ready. The music transports listeners to a fog-filled realm of ghouls, demons, and zombies, where terror is pleasant and the afterlife is always around. The dark call-and-response choruses and cinematic beats are intended to keep fans dancing well after the witching hour.
Let’s talk more about the song before we wrap up. Millin has earned a reputation for writing songs that are both emotionally personal and universally relevant. Her inventiveness extends beyond the music, with vivid visuals and striking performances that highlight her artistry. “Soul for the taking.” With its frightening lyrics, chilling tale, and tempting dance-pop music, the song is already being touted as a future annual Halloween anthem, alongside “Thriller,” “Monster Mash,” and “Ghostbusters.” Just when you thought Millin wasn’t intentional with her music, I present to you her cover art for this release. The song shows a haunted looking mansion, a place where you know just by looking at it that, it is haunted daily. To top it all off, the cover art also features, carved pumpkins that, are stuff that nightmares are made off and will probably give me nightmares but, I digress.
As Olivia’s catalogue develops, she continues to captivate fans and industry tastemakers. Her songs, which frequently incorporate themes of empowerment, vulnerability, and imagination, resonate with listeners who see themselves in her lyrics and delivery. Millin is emerging as one of today’s most promising young pop voices, poised for even greater success on the global stage, thanks to her undeniable ability, chart accomplishments, and dedication to pushing artistic limits. As a new fan, I’m definitely going to check out her other songs (I invite you to do the same), and I can’t wait to hear more and more of her music!
