Greetings dearest gentle readers and music fans, Let’s welcome the American duo SUPER SAIYAN JAY AND KING DEV, back to our blog. SUPER SAIYAN JAY and KING DEV are a duo I’m familiar with after hearing their album “Combination 2” and their lovely EP “Jersey Girls”. As usual, The album they just released showcases the duo’s unmatched talent and artistry. On 18th April, the duo released an eleven-song album called “High in the Bakery”. Let’s talk more about the album
The first song on the album is called “intro skit”. The song opens with some mouth percussion then, another voice who criticizes the mouth percussion. It was a fun skit and the humor the duo went for was classic and very funny. It reminded me of when in Thor Ragnorak, the movie, Thor suggested “get help” to Loki to get attention and fight their way out. This exchange was very much like that and listeners find out the bond of the duo and their undeniable chemistry. This was the perfect opening for the album
Next is a song called “Back Room”. The song opens with a nice beat and a coughing sound. The song seems to be talking about a character who is smoking and chilling in the backroom (”chill in the backroom”). The coughing sound is validated when, the character admits to getting high in the song, giving listeners a more immersive performance. This was a great song, with great lyrics and a great rap that listeners will love
The third song is called “Medicated”. The beat from the start is thumping and enjoyable. This song also describes a character who is medicated and smokes weed. With the legalization of weed, listeners can feel at ease listening to this song, without thinking that he did anything illegal. The character feels like he can get things done because he’s high and is really chilling. This is yet another amazing song by this talented duo. The beat and the rap were very exciting and this was a bop through and through
“Rolling Papers” is the next song on the record. This song’s intro is very exciting. In the song, we meet a character who smokes often, claiming that smoking got him afloat and contributed to him getting his paper. The rap was hard and the beat was foot-tapping
The next song is titled “No Luck”. The beat in the intro was so crazy and foot-tapping. The character in the song tells everyone that he doesn’t need luck because his life is picture perfect and he has everything he could ever need. The boys went crazy on this track, I mean the rap was immaculate and the bars were standing on business. This was a magical song with a great experience
“BMW” is the title of the next song. The intro had this sick beat that will get you giddy. Listeners meet a character who’s life is amazing. He got the girls, he got the money, he got his boys, he got his weed and his drink and he is partying like an animal(”party like there’s no tomorrow”). This is a song you can request for you and your boys at the club, or even if you’re just chilling alone, this song will get you super hyped as it did to me
The next song is called “Indica and Sativa”. This song has a slower intro with, soft and gorgeous mouth percussion. The character is getting high (”I’m about to smoke up”), but, he meets a girl, who wants to be put on and when they kiss, it is Kismet. The rap went hard as usual and it had a really chill and soft vibe
“Beach Days” is the next song on the album. The intro of this song is equally interesting as the others. In the song, we meet a character who likes to go to the beach. He doesn’t go into the water or anything, he just goes there to chill(”I like the vibe”). This is yet another bop on this album. This is a great song, a song you don’t want to skip on the album
“Spark up my blunt” is the next song on the album. This song also has a chill vibe right from the start. So basically, the character in the song is hotboxing himself with weed when he meets this girl. He really likes her and he tells her how he feels and how much he wants to hang out with her(”I really want to kick it with you”). This song is a change of pace in the album which is gladly welcome.
The next song is called “smoking weed – remix”. The song has no intro, the song just goes right into the performance. As the title says, the character in the song is just chilling and smoking weed. This song was nice and lighthearted, it’s just fun to listen to
The last song on the album is “Outro-skit”. In this skit, the duo admits that they had been smoking throughout the duration of the album. They also say goodbye to us, the listeners. This was literally a goodbye to us and it was really cool
With a focus on creating a unified and engaging listening experience, “High In The Bakery” is an important addition to Super Saiyan Jay and King Dev’s career. The recording procedure, which took place at the renowned OnBeatStudios, created a natural and organic environment for the artist to bring their vision to reality. Taking a more relaxed attitude, this album offers a new take on music, encouraging listeners to immerse themselves in the joy and creativity that Super Saiyan Jay and King Dev bring to each track. They have done it again, and this time it was even better, I love this duo and I can’t wait to hear more music from them.
