Jonny Thorns, from Durham, England, is an emerging musician with a distinct sound that combines rock influences with appealing tunes. On 16th October, he released a five-song EP called “Fountains Of Your Youth”. Let’s talk more about the EP
The first song on the EP is titled “Fountains of your youth”. The song opens with a cheerful and upbeat melody that is very catchy. When it comes to the theme, the song talks about love in a very deep, all-consuming, and intense way. Musically, the instrumentation was very foot-tapping, and the vocal performance was perfect. With this song, the EP starts very strongly.
Next is the song “Strangers”. This song changes the direction of the EP softly and gently. The song talks about the aftermath of a breakup. Romantic or not, losing people we are with closely is extremely difficult, and it really hurts. If care is not taken, it can lead you into this dark headspace. The lyrics, vocal performance, and instrumentation really capture the despair and hopelessness of these situations.
The third song on the EP is called “No place left to hide”. This song doesn’t waste any time and gets right into the vocal performance. This song describes a relationship that has lost its luster and shine. It comes to a time when you can’t push the mistakes and the hurt under the carpet because, it will implode and sooner rather than later, you and your partner will have to face the problems in your relationship. Musically, the song is very foot-tapping. The vocal performance was lively and colorful, and I had so much fun with this song, and so will you.
“All I ever knew (Acoustic)” is the next song on the EP. This song opens with a beautiful guitar melody that will captivate you instantly. This song describes one person who got away or that one person we never fall out of love with. Sometimes it is like that because, like the lyrics of the song, they are all you ever knew, all you ever loved. The stripped-down instrumentation gives Jonny’s voice a chance to shine thoroughly. The guitar work on this song was simply amazing.
The last song on the EP is titled “Save You”. This song also goes straight into the vocal performance. This song portrays a character who is a hero to someone in his life. This song was an amazing sonic journey that you don’t want to miss. This fantastic song ends the EP.
The EP’s recording process, which took place across multiple studios including Blast Recording and Harbourmaster Studios, demonstrates Jonny’s dedication to crafting a clean and powerful sound. It shows his intentionality and the love and care that he poured into this wonderful EP.
