Hello there, welcome to our blog. This is the place to be if you love music, we feature the work of top-notch artists. Today help me welcome back US artist LARRY KARPENKO to our blog. Larry is one of the few artists who has me in a chokehold. With songs like “Fare Thee Well”, “The River”, and his most recent song “Believe the Promise”, I am fully locked in with his music and I will never let go. On 25th July, he released another song called “God help us”. Let me take you through the song
The song opens with rain-like sounds before Larry begins. Buckle up because you are in for a wild ride
Larry was inspired to make this song after Larry had the opportunity to meet Marlanna Evans, aka Rapsody, at a live event hosted by the Los Angeles College of Music. Rapsody admitted to feeling alienated and creatively stuck—sitting alone, disconnected from the music scene—until she reconnected with others and the music returned. Larry recognized himself in her narrative.
With the inspiration out of the way, let’s talk about the meaning of this song. In the midst of adversity, he asked God for guidance. He hoped to turn Rapsody’s message of thankfulness and endurance into something profoundly spiritual and touching. Larry envisaged seeing Rapsody and Michael Jackson on the Hollywood Hills and praying for Los Angeles. That vision helped form the song’s message of love, unity, and divine strength(“Rain may come, rain may fall, God help us all”)
Larry recorded the song at Kreation Records Studio in Loma Linda, California, which is an independently owned creative space for composing, recording, and finalizing tracks. Its proximity to Los Angeles makes it an ideal location for collaboration. They are looking for any inventive tactics or innovative procedures you employed while recording, producing, or mixing this album. God Help Us’ heartbeat began with a beat: steady, sombre, and full of intent. It served as the foundation for everything that came after, much like the first brushstroke on a blank canvas waiting to be changed. That rhythm was not only musical; it was spiritual. It had the weight of a prayer and the rhythm of a dance. After meeting Rapsody, the concept became clearer.
The bridge of the song had a gospel choir effect hums to evoke the atmosphere of a church audience, and it concluded with Bible verses emphasizing God’s voice, intervention, and the promise of His return. “God Help Us” has a consistent, memorable melody that can be sung to the beat of a human fist—raw, heartfelt, and approachable.
Larry is so talented and so genuine. Imagine my surprise when he began to rap. Is there anything he can’t do??. I may seem biased but I assure you that his work speaks for itself. I invite you to fall into a rabbit hole filled with Larry’s music and thank me later. I simply cannot wait to hear more music from him
