LOVE ENDURES IN ALAN MAIR’S NEW SINGLE “GHOST OF YOU IN ME”

No Comments News

Today, we feature the work of the amazing Alan Mair. Alan Mair, the iconic musician from The Only Ones, is scheduled to release his stunning new single “Ghost Of You In Me” on August 25th. Join me and let’s talk more about the song.

The song opens with a dark yet catchy guitar and drum melody. He later sits in with a short yet impressive mouth percussion. In this moment, you will be hooked and want to hear more.

Let’s talk theme. The song touches on the enduring existence of love even after separation or loss. Ever been to a séance?. If your answer is no, let me explain. When people do séances and use Ouija boards to try to communicate with the dead, asking them to show themselves or let you know they are there or they are listening, is quite common. This explains why the character in the song, who thinks his lover is there in spirit, asks this so-called ghost to show him or herself. But, in all honesty, breakups are very hard, and it could be the character’s healing process to imagine that the person they once loved, or the person who has died is no longer in their life.

Let’s talk more about the production. The song, which combines rock and anthemic soundscapes, has an unforgettable allure. Alan wrote, sang, and produced the single, which incorporates every instrument he performed—except for the incredible lead guitar, which was performed by the phenomenal Zal Cleminson. Alan has honed his live performance and studio production skills by performing at thousands of events and festivals, including Glastonbury and the Wireless Festival. His musical career has influenced generations, with The Only Ones inspiring legendary artists like The Replacements, Nirvana, The Libertines, and Blur.

Let’s go in a little deeper. Alan believes that when you are deeply in love with someone and they move away—or even pass away—some believe their spirit comes back to visit, and that was his inspiration for the song. The cover picture of the single gave me a jump scare. I won’t like it; it ties in with the death part of the theme. The image shows a woman who is clearly dead to signify the loss in the character’s life. He also has an amazing video on YouTube that you should definitely check out.

Not only was I entertained by this song, but I was also able to learn that our minds can conjure a lot of things to protect us, especially after a breakup or during a grieving process. It also shows me that love is enduring. Our mind also defends us with these defense mechanisms. Alan is a superstar who will not be tied down, and I am so excited to shoot into the sky with him!
