Hello, dearest readers and music lovers, let’s welcome THE GILHOOYS. THE GILHOOYS are a Scottish band who belong in our digital space. Dev is the primary protagonist, frontman, and songwriter of Indie rockers “The Gilhoolys”. After strutting their thing in the indie scene in the 90s, they reassembled in 2020 and returned with a bang when their first single in 20-odd years. On 26th September, they released a single titled “Bad Routine”. Let’s talk more about it.
The song opens with a lively and captivating melody that you will love instantly. When it comes to the theme, the song is about how we fall to unfathomable corruption. The character in the song lets us know that he is stuck in a bad routine of doing something wrong. But he defends his choices, stating that he was born that way, born to do morally bad things, and for this reason, he cannot help himself when it comes to morality.
Let’s talk production. Dev, the Gifted’s frontman, has created another brilliantly composed tune. With an intro of mastered subtlety that draws you into the band’s outstanding lead guitar hook throughout the choruses. Bad Routine is definitely bad, but in a way that makes you want to hear the song on repeat.
The dynamism of The Gilhoolys is truly captured, endorsed, and simply glowing in this Indie Masterpiece, which makes you think you baked a delightful sponge cake using the ingredients of The Foo Fighters, with a dash of Manic Street Preachers, and adding some little sprinklings of The Pixies, with even the faintest hint of Thin Lizzy. Something incredibly exceptional to sample for Indie Connoisseurs.
The Gilhoolys captured the spirit of their music with passion, soul, and unflinching commitment to their style and their fans. The song is meaningful and captivating. Truthfully, it is A song suitable for every playlist. I encourage you to take a listen and enjoy the song like I did.
