Greetings, dearest readers and music fans worldwide, let’s welcome Danny Hammons to our blog. Rising star Danny Hammons, who is making waves in the folk music industry, hails from Birmingham, United States. The intriguing EP “Take The Long Road Home” is his latest release. The seven-song album was released on 4th October. Let’s talk more about this awesome EP.

First on the list is “June song”. The song opens with a dreamy and energetic melody that is sure to catch your attention. This song is such a great opener. It has this warmth and loving essence that cannot be duplicated. The album starts very strongly, and it is all thanks to this song.

Next up is the song “Shooting Stars”. This song opens in a glacial but satisfying way, and the intro beckons you to live in the moment as you are hearing this song. The song talks about one marvelous creation that we still find new things about: stars. It mentions how, in comparison to us, the stars are bigger and are part of something obviously wonderful. Musically, there is a guitar solo that listeners should look forward to. The vocal performance really lowers you through the performance, and it is undeniably beautiful.

“Back to Colorado” is the title of the next song. This song has an upbeat melody that welcomes listeners to the song. In the song, we meet a character who wants to go back to Colorado. Not only does he express his desire, in great detail, but he also mentions the things he loves and misses about Colorado, like its high mountains. Musically, the vocal performance was very captivating, and I have to say, the way this song describes Colorado is so passionate and breathtaking that I actually wanted to go there. But rest assured, because if you can’t go there in person, this song will take you there. One way to Colorado, please!

Up next is the song “Sidewalk Child”. This song opens with a beautiful yet mournful guitar and harmonica sound. The song talks about a sidewalk child. Ideally, the sidewalk is a safe place for people, especially children, to walk on. The song has a killer vocal performance and instrumentation to die for!

“Hourglass” is the next song on the album. The song opens with a beautiful guitar melody, and when the beat drops, you will fall in love instantly. The song mentions something very important, which is that Time is not an illusion. Honestly, we all also wish that we could go back in time to fix past mistakes, but we can’t, and that is a hard pill we have to swallow. The song stood down with its vocal performance and song structure. Prepare to have the time of your life!!

“Oceanside” is the title of the next song. This song has a very lively intro, and it is very exciting to listen to. I was already tapping my foot when the song began. The song talks about the serenity that the ocean and Oceanside provide. Musically, the vocal performance was top-notch, and the instrumentation was flawless and a complete ten out of ten.

The last song on the album is “Hearts and Minds “. The song opens with a very catchy and exciting melody. Ever heard the saying “winning hearts and minds?” Well well, this song tells us that you can’t actually build both. The song pokes at certain things the government does that make them think they can win the hearts and minds of people. The song talks about politics in a subtle way that condemns oppressive behaviors. Musically, this song has a very entertaining and lively instrumentation and vocal performance. The album started on a high note, and most definitely ends on a high note.

This project was brought to life by the skilled hands of folk singer-songwriter Ramblin’ Ricky Tate, who recorded it in Birmingham, Alabama, alongside members of the Steel City Jug Slammers. Danny’s work is greatly influenced by legendary American songwriters and troubadours like Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley, and John Prine, demonstrating a strong respect for storytelling and beautiful melodies.

“Take The Long Road Home” is a collection of moving travel songs that capture Danny’s adventures across America, from busking on street corners to experiencing the wide vistas of the country. Danny’s music appeals to the hearts of migratory souls seeking comfort on the open road, with themes of restlessness, adventure, homesickness, and loneliness intertwined throughout the EP. Standout pieces like ‘Shooting Stars’ and ‘Back To Colorado’ highlight Danny’s songwriting abilities, making this debut album an important milestone in his musical career. I loved that I got to go to different places just by listening to this EP. Take a chance on this EP, and you will never regret or forget it.
