Greetings to all my most cherished readers and music lovers worldwide!. Today, we are welcoming US artist Zach Adams to our blog. On 1st August, he released a twelve-song album called “Dead Man Walking”. Let me walk you through the album.
The album’s title track is the namesake of the album “Dead Man Walking”. The song opens with an exciting drum beat and is later fused with a guitar melody. This song talks about a character who is riddled with anxiety. His anxiety makes him lose all sense around him and feel like a zombie, not living, but just existing and going through the motions. Musically, the song is very powerful, and the instrumentation is off the chain and will make you rock out. For a first song, this opens the album in a very exciting way.
The second song is called “When Wishing Still Helped One. The song opens kind of slow, but it picks up very quickly. This song presents a character who has given up hope and feels lost. In doing so, he mentions things that he did that could have helped; these things don’t work anymore, so he reminisces about the good times. Musically, the artist pulled all stops to present us with this amazing song!
“Drown” is the title of the next song on the record. The song opens with this bright synth-like melody and then turns dramatic and wild. In this song, the persona talks about letting go and saying goodbye. We don’t know if the goodbye was to a romantic relationship, but saying goodbye to friends and family is equally difficult. No matter who the character was saying goodbye to, the song talks about how it can lead to metaphorical drowning, where we are so overwhelmed with these passing relationships that we exit. Musically, the vocal performance was amazing, and it really sold the story in the song.
Up next is “They want you to be afraid!”. The song opens with a bass that is different from every other bass I’ve ever heard. The song talks about how someone or how people use fear tactics to keep people in line. The song outlines the effects that this type of control has on these people or this person. This is yet another song that is not afraid to go there with its lyrics, vocal performance, and instrumentation.
“Gelatin Skeleton” is the song that follows. The song opens with the vocal performance right away. The song talks about attack when you’re under attack and staying the course, no matter what. The song talks about resisting, no matter how it affects your body. This song is a song that will sound amazing when it’s performed live. The instrumentation was just so fire that you will feel yourself rocking out with the song.
Next is the song “Petrichorus”. The song opens with a wonderful and exciting drum beat and bass that is very foot-tapping. The song talks about being formless and the unseen playing out before us. Musically, this song is everything that you want in a tasteful and incredible song and would want to listen to on repeat.
“Becoming hollow (Am I?). This song opens in a high-energy way that is unforgettable. This song portrays a character who is going through something so bad that he needs to fake laughter so he won’t cry. This character has imposter syndrome and realizes that his life is hollow and vacant. This song was very profound, even though it is not a ballad. So, you get an upbeat song that also talks about something important and something that people may be in a similar situation. I really loved this song, and listeners will really groove with it and hopefully learn something from it.
“The house always wins”. The song opens with an amazing guitar melody, that guitar shred was so fabulous, my jaw literally dropped. This song talks about mental health. In the song, the character is stuck in a maze of busted glass in his mind. He feels imprisoned and looks like he will do anything to get out of there. The song proves that indeed, you can be lost and locked in your own mind. Musically, we get a wild and passionate performance, with instrumentation that is off the chain!. We applaud the artist for sharing this important message.
The next song is titled “The Last Light in the Universe”. This song opens with a compelling and tribal like drum beat, and when the guitar sets in, you are going to lose your mind!. The song talks about a character who is alone and seems like he’s the last person or light in the world. This song is just fantastic, and listeners will find themselves dancing or jumping around to it, like I did. What a great song!
“Apocalypsis, Pt 1” is the song on the record. The song starts with this metal-slicing sound before the beat drops. In this song, we are introduced to a character who is riddled with paranoia. This paranoia takes over him, and he starts to hallucinate. Also, he doesn’t feel comfortable in his own skin, which is completely normal. We have all had days when we don’t want to be in our own skin, so we disassociate and just go through the motions. The song made me feel seen by its lyrics, passionate and raw musicality, and I was completely mesmerized.
Next is the song “Apocalypsis, Pt . 2. The song opens with a very foot-tapping instrumentation right off the bat. This is an instrumental that was exciting. It had everything great, a killer drum beat, out of this world guitar work, and listeners should expect an unforgettable performance.
The last song on the album is called “Phantom Love”. When the song starts, you will get so excited and eager for the song to keep playing because you want More. We meet a persona who is grieving his broken relationship. This character is still very much hurt and affected by this breakup, so he tries to call her and misses her voice. The highest truth is that love is pain, and the aftermath of a breakup can be so maddening. To get over someone that you cared for that much is not an easy feat. This song really hit home with me, not only because of the lyrics but because the song is cathartic and can help you focus on something else if you’re in a similar situation. This wonderful song closes the curtain for this album.
This enormous effort highlights Adams’ diverse artistry, combining atmospheric soundscapes with sophisticated instrumentation and compelling narration to transport listeners to a darkly fantastic realm. “Dead Man Walking”, with its original approach and highly personal vision, stands out as a bold statement from a new artist poised to make a huge impact on the modern rock landscape. These songs were visionary, and I don’t regret listening to them. I invite you to listen today and see how great this album is.
