Right from the heart of London N1, Tom Minor is a musical chameleon with the ability to breathe life into whatever genre he chooses to explore. Taking inspiration from an extensive range of indie, new wave, and garage genres with just a hint of soul and R&B, Tom’s music is as eclectic as the city he calls home. Tom Minor brought us the infectious track ‘Change It!’ on Dec 26th, and trust us, we’re diving into the heart of what makes this track so infectious.
There’s no build-up; it’s pure, raw, and infectious guitar riffing that screams for attention. When the drumming and Tom’s vocals kick in, it goes into overtime. This raw energy embodies the essence of the London indie rock scene perfectly.
This vintage, soul-infused indie rock rebellion anthem is also a potent rallying cry for those who harbor the belief that their true potential is still being held in stasis but retain the hope that the future can be better. This message is refreshingly clear: It is high time you got your ass up and transformed those aspects of your life that have ceased being of any constructive use to you. Dislike your look? Well, change it! Displeased with your weight? Well, change it!. Tom Minor has now turned over the gloves and flung the gates of hell wide open. It is high time you ceased being crippled by FOMO and entered the ring.
Change It!” – this is the result of an epic collaboration, with the cutting-edge guitar sounds of Johnny Dalston and the direct and energetic input of the producer, Teaboy Palmer, better known around the scenes as “The Basher of Belsize Park. For years, the name “Tom Minor” has circulated in the shadows, known simply as a “hack” writer for hire, before now venturing into the limelight to spread his own “existential indie” aesthetic. He’s clearly lit the touchpaper in the blogging community, getting a massive push from the release of his first album, “Eleven Easy Pieces on Anger & Disappointment,” based on the success of a whole series of “grit-and-glory” singles, including “Future Is an F Word,” “The Manic Phase,” and “Next Stop Brixton.” This track seems the height of this man’s journey, somebody who has clearly done his hard grind and is now playing his own way.
This track is nothing short of incredible-the ultimate anthem to hype you up and carry that energy through the rest of the year. If you’ve been looking for the right headspace to finally tackle those New Year’s resolutions and stop making excuses, it’s here, and I am absolutely all for it. Tom Minor is a true star, and it’s clear he’s set to burn bright across the industry for a long time to come.
