ANALIESE REDEFINES POP PERFECTION WITH HER DEBUT EP “MISS MELANCHOLY”

Analiese, Dallas-based pop visionary and songwriting wizard, lifts the veil off her highly awaited debut EP, “Miss Melancholy”, which will officially be released on September 4, 2026. Inspired by the cinematic and melancholy memories of her own high school experiences, this masterful album explores the heartbreaking, insecure, volatile, and pained nature of youth through the lens of her own personal, nostalgic world of proms. If you think you’ve heard everything that teenage self-reflection has to offer, Analiese is here to shatter your expectations, wrapping the struggles of life around catchy music. Let us take a look inside this fantastic seven-track EP.

“Miss Melancholy” opens up Analiese’s artistic universe through the title track, starting off with a stark, almost lonely ambiance created by a tape hiss, immediately followed by a tight, rhythmic stringed melody which is breathtaking and immediately sets the tone of a contemplative night. The lyrics tell a story of a girl who lived in the shadow of another girl. Like typical high school behavior, this girl gets all the attention and is the arm candy of the hottest boy in school. She tells us how getting good grades doesn’t matter because, in the end, people judge you on how you look, and while this girl becomes prom queen, she’s left with the only title available, which is Miss Melancholy. The vocal performance in this song is absolutely beautiful; breathy, conversational, and vulnerable, all over an instrumentally sad and yet at the same time funky indie pop music. The importance of this track is in its complete acceptance of knowing that you lived in the shadow of a person who ruled the school because of her looks.

As “Bitter” progresses further in its development, it opens up abruptly with a distorted bassline and a sharp percussion beat akin to a rimshot. The lyrics of the song delve into the poisonous nature of carrying around the resentment towards someone you gave up on. The persona in this song revels in the fact that her ex is bitter and is still all over her, even though he says he’s moved on after dumping her. In this case, Analiese brings out her more sarcastic voice, spitting out witty lyrics with a razor-sharp delivery against the fuzzy-sounding guitar chords in the background. It is through the pairing of the upbeat instrumental against bitter and resentful lyrics that makes for a great combination, allowing the listener to get into a good groove even as they relish their pain.

The ride goes on with “Foolish,” which begins with a lonely and crying electric piano chord that reverberates quietly in an enormous and vacant acoustic environment until the delayed drum machine takes up the task of making a marching beat. This song deals with the embarrassment that comes with yearning for a person who doesn’t want you. This song just plays out a scenario where you fall for that one person everyone is drooling over. This character admits that she’s foolish for falling for him, but as the cliché says, “the heart wants what the heart wants”. With regard to vocals, Analiese sings some of the most honest lyrics on the record, allowing her voice to break down with emotion instead of sounding perfectly polished and digitized. She is accompanied by weeping ambient synth pads and a weeping guitar lick that sounds like a sigh, making one feel like driving in the night and blaming oneself for loving way too much.

Halfway through the EP, “Disaster” bursts out of the gate with a hard-hitting guitar melody, synth pulse, and distortion that resembles a siren in the distance, setting an atmosphere of chaos and high stakes. Lyrically, “Disaster” is a song that talks about a character who now sees someone she was hopelessly in love with in a different light, admitting that he was never the right one because he was a total mess. This post-relationship clarity is something that is hard to swallow, but it is something that’s possible. Analiese’s vocal work is intense, layered, and extremely theatrical in nature, slicing through the distortion with her punk-inspired vocals that grab the listener’s attention. Sonically, the EP’s heavy bass synths, aggressive percussion loops, and fast guitar hits create a chaotic wall of sound that leaves you gasping for air.

The frenetic rhythm is slowed just enough to sting; “Bleach” begins with a crisp, quavering finger-picked melody played on an acoustic guitar, which seems unnervingly close, as if the instrument is humming next to your ear. In the lyrics, the story moves on to the desperate need to cleanse someone out of your home, body, and heart, viewing the process of recovery as something similar to a chemical and antiseptic process of purification. It’s a proven fact that a woman attacks her hair when her mental state isn’t ideal, and this song is proof of that. In her vocals, Analiese has a hauntingly delicate, whisper-like rhythm that eventually grows into an uplifting harmony of exhaustion at the end of the song’s chorus. The minimal instrumentation is slowly augmented by a dramatic orchestral arrangement with haunting vocal repetitions, creating a haunting sound that greatly moves the listener in terms of the excruciating slow motion of falling out of love.

However, “Ugly Crier” starts off with a sharp, snapping bass line along with a defiant and vibrant drumbeat right from the start. In terms of lyrics, the song talks about those types of partners who mess up the relationship and then later show up at your door, full of apologies, knowing full well that, as soon as they get back in, they will do the same thing all over again or even be worse than before. The vocals by Analise in this song are full of sass and a syncopated delivery of phrases and ad-libs. The fun-filled and rhythmic music is the perfect song that people can blast on through their speakers, because the bright and rhythmic guitars will make them feel good about embracing all of their untidiness.

Concluding the EP is “Killer,” which begins with the pulsing, heart-beating sounds of a bass drum and suspenseful synth line that creates the atmosphere of walking through an alley on your own late at night. This song incorporates femme fatale tropes and features lyrics reminiscent of psychological thrillers and the power of emotional dominance, and asks who has the metaphorical knife in this dysfunctional relationship. Analise’s vocal performance in this song is smooth, calculated, and enticing, seamlessly gliding from the lower register to the upper register. The instrumentation of this song is filled with a suspenseful mood fueled by bass lines and percussive hits, leaving you with an adrenaline rush that completes the entire album as a masterclass of emotional pop music.

Behind such a sound masterpiece, there is a team of visionaries who have made their magic behind the scenes. The producers include such incredible visionaries as Alex Arnaout, Michael Edwards, Remington Rafael, Mike Manning, Shane Bauman, and Celica Westbrook, while the music composition includes such beautiful songs composed by Analiese herself along with Shannon Camacho and Ace Savage. The entire album has been recorded at Septien Entertainment Group and Club Roar, and each and every second of this album represents the magic of such visionaries who work hard without compromise.

With Analiese, the musical experience is one of hearing a world where vibrant and sugary sweet pop tunes crash headfirst into dark and introspective lyrics, creating a musical combination that is just as catchy as it is disturbingly amazing. This artist’s talent comes in the form of a contrast between the lightness of the music and the intensity of her emotions. Listening to this EP was one hell of a ride and a joy all the way through. While this is Analiese’s first venture into the world of her own musical project, there is nothing at all about this EP that sounds inexperienced. Each note and every song is written with the confidence and expertise of an artist who is already a success. This is a woman with a career in the making, and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!
