I have the immense pleasure of welcoming back one of my all-time favorite American visionaries, The Lazz. He is, in a way, the ultimate link between the unfiltered essence of classic rock and the limitless creativity of the music production industry today. While so many of today’s projects focus on generating mere noise, The Lazz creates a massive soundscape – that of roaring traditional guitar playing and resounding live bass harmonizing with progressiveness and storytelling at its most eloquent. I can already tell you for sure that his last release “The Resonance” has been a huge success that I have had on constant and joyful repeat since then. In line with his tireless creative talent, he is back on our stage today not empty-handed but bringing us yet another piece of sheer sonic artistry, the new single “The Crown.”
“The Crown” kicks off with an irresistibly wild and frenzied combination of screeching and screaming electric guitars and pounding drums, all nicely complemented by a well-executed mouth percussion, which gives it a unique rhythm flavor. However, let me warn you about the vocal performance that will blow your mind as soon as it hits you. It is a highly impressive display of vocal talent that is quite shocking in its effect on the audience and incredibly powerful and gritty at the same time.
Essentially, The Lazz is so much more than just a musical endeavor, it is a novel, hybrid-human modern metal adventure that exists in a completely new level of artistic excellence. Perfectly crafted from scratch with original guitar-driven composition, real live instrumentation, and immersive cinematic world-building, all of the tracks feel like pure art. “The Crown” sees him successfully opening up Act IV: The Return, thus extending his epic and deeply inspired by Jung’s theories storyline. This is not just the music to be listened to, it is a brave and daring dive into the psychology of shadow work, ego, radical transformation, and the unknown world of what we turn into as people when going through major life changes. It is precisely this remarkable mixture of the metal soundscapes and philosophical concept that shows yet once again why The Lazz is absolutely unique in his storytelling.
On the musical side of things, “The Crown” is a true tour de force that boldly combines such contrasting styles as groove metal, djent, thrash, melodic metalcore and power metal. The powerful, syncopated riffs strike like surgical blades, whereas the amazing duality between the male and female vocal parts forms an absolutely fascinating dynamic duo that is equally brutal and theatrical at the same time. Nevertheless, all those elements become nothing compared to the superb philosophical concept behind the song
The Crown”, and that is what turns the song into a true masterpiece. “The Crown” is a true masterpiece of philosophy in the form of music since the track fearlessly delves into such dark corners of the process of personal evolution as ego inflation following transformation and the dangerously delicate moment when the newly gained knowledge about oneself stops becoming a source of freedom and simply turns into yet another mask. The Lazz is a superstar that I cannot wait to work with yet again!
