Mary Elle Fanning is an American actress who was born on April 9, 1998[2]. In the drama movie I Am Sam (2001), she made her acting debut as a youthful version of her sister Dakota Fanning’s role. Daddy Day Care (2003), Babel (2006), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Phoebe in Wonderland (both 2008), and the miniseries The Lost Room (2006) are just a few of the numerous films she acted in as a young actress. She starred in Sofia Coppola’s drama Somewhere in 2010, and in J. J. Abrams’ science fiction film Super 8 in 2011.

Steven J. Fanning, who played minor league baseball for organisations connected to the St. Louis Cardinals, and Heather Joy (née Arrington), who was a baseball player, welcomed Fanning into the world in Conyers, Georgia.[4][5]

Her aunt Jill Arrington is an ESPN reporter, and her maternal grandfather Rick Arrington played American football.The gentleman farmer William Farrar is one of the most important ancestors of the Arrington family [6].Dakota Fanning’s sister, Fanning, is a famous actress.As is the custom in their family, [9] she and her sister both use their middle names in place of their given names.[10] Southern Baptists were their denomination of upbringing.[11][9

Before the age of three, Fanning began performing.[vague][13] She debuted in the miniseries Taken and the movie I Am Sam as the younger version of the roles played by her elder sister Dakota.[14] Fanning landed her first job without the help of her sister in the comedy Daddy Day Care in 2002 when she was four years old. In The Door in the Floor (2004), she was chosen to play Ruth opposite Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger. For the demanding shooting schedule, the film’s producers had originally intended to cast identical twins, but they ended up using only Fanning.

In Robert Stromberg’s 2014 Walt Disney movie Maleficent, Fanning featured with Angelina Jolie. Fanning was Princess Aurora, the Sleeping Beauty, while Jolie was Maleficent.[28] She starred in the biographical film Low Down about jazz pianist Joe Albany’s life the same year, in which she played the character of Amy-Jo, the pianist’s daughter, from whose perspective the tale is portrayed. Both films were independent science fiction Westerns. In 2015, Fanning co-starred in Jay Roach’s Trumbo as Nikola Trumbo, the daughter of Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston), and she also appeared in 3 Generations (formerly known as About Ray) as a young transgender male opposite Naomi Watts and Susan Sarandon.

In May 2019, Fanning was appointed as a jury member of the international competition in the 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival, becoming the youngest Cannes juror in history.^[48] That same year, Fanning starred in Woody Allen‘s A Rainy Day in New York.^[49] In October 2019, Fanning reprised the role of Aurora in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.^[50][51] In 2020, Fanning starred in All the Bright Places, opposite Justice Smith, directed by Brett Haley, based upon the novel of the same name by Jennifer Niven,^[52] and The Roads Not Taken, directed by Sally Potter, opposite Javier Bardem and Salma Hayek.^[53] That same year, Fanning starred in and executive produced the historical comedy series The Great, starring as Catherine the Greatalongside Nicholas Hoult. The series premiered on Hulu in May 2020.^[54][55]Fanning received critical acclaim for the role and was nominated in the 2021 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy.^[3]Her performance also earned her, her first Primetime Emmy Awardnomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.^[56]

She played Michelle Carter in the 2022 Hulu miniseries The Girl from Plainville, which was based on the passing of Conrad Roy.[58] The Nightingale, which is based on the same-named novel, will feature Dakota and Fanning in a reunion with Laurent.[59] Lewellen Pictures was founded more recently by Elle and Dakota with a first look agreement at MRC.[60]
