The House Flies, based in the Midwest, combine gothic atmosphere, post-punk textures, and a melancholy melodic sensibility in their music. This fantastic band released a song on 16th September, they released a song called “Sweet Foxhound”. Let’s talk more about the song.
The song opens with a sick drum and guitar melody. Just by this intro you can feel that you are going to have the time if your life.
When it comes to theme, the song can represent a lot of different things. The song can mean acceptance of oneself, embracing ourselves no matter what happens. Through some of the lyrics, it can also stand for positivity and hope because, if we don’t have hope, we don’t have anything.
The song is a somber yet melodic composition that features shadowy guitar layers, pulsating bass, and a driving rhythm that moves with a sense of restless energy. Haunting vocal lines float over a rich and atmospheric mix, producing a seductive yet unnerving atmosphere – a fitting continuation of the band’s dark and haunting style.
The single is also the first official recording to feature second guitarist Burnie Eckardt (Dynoride), who joined The House Flies. It also features Alex x Riggen on guitar/vocals, Ozzie Woods on bass, and, Nick Pompou on drums. I can safely say that everyone pulled their weight making this song and this song is their beloved baby.
“Sweet Foxhound”, which was first composed during the Mannequin Deposit sessions and is now completely realized with the band’s enlarged lineup, stands alone as a haunting statement while The House Flies work on their next album. For listeners who prefer visual stimulation, the band has made a killer video that is on YouTube. The cover art of this song shows a picture of four dogs, making a final and solid connection to the theme of identity.
