Greetings dearest gentle reader and music fans let’s welcome the exciting duo Hyde out. Prepare yourself for an exciting musical adventure as Hyde Out, the genre-bending London duo consisting of Jaka Levstek and Omar Merlo releases their most recent song, “Moonfactory.” This album, which is scheduled for release on November 6, is a 13-song album that is expected to be a ground-breaking blend of nostalgia and modernity, combining elements of contemporary pop and rock, the 60s and 70s folk, 80s electropop, and British pop rock from the 1990s to produce a unique and memorable listening experience. Let’s talk more about this record
The opening track is called “Oblivious”. The song opens with choral and ethereal mouth percussion with an electric guitar riff mixed into it. The song presents to listeners a character who is clueless about the events around him. In the song, we find out that because this character is oblivious he is not hurt or perturbed by anything around him and the song encourages listeners to use obliviousness as a coping mechanism, it might not sound ideal, but at least the character is well off(“be oblivious”). The song later adds in some lovely piano sounds and the vocal performance is so moving and beautiful and so is the electric guitar solo. This great song starts the album
“Dedication to the ones who wanted me dead” is the title of the next song. The song has a short intro and goes straight into the vocal performance. The character in the song is dejected but lets his enemies know that he will die an honorable death, a death that is worth the struggle he endured, so he raises a glass to his haters and tells them to do their worst. The song has a mid-tempo beat. The instrumentation on this track and the vocal performance are very good and it is a brilliant song
“Only Words” is the next song on the album. The song opens with a dreamy guitar intro. The song talks about the weight of the words we say. It’s a common belief that words are just words when in fact, these words, if spoken with the intent to hurt, cut into you like a sharp knife. Thanks to the band for opening up how words can affect others and manipulation. The song is performed so passionately and it will delight you
“Games We Play” is the next song on the record. The song starts with operatic piano sounds. The song is about the complexities of romantic relationships. The persona in the song is still hurting from the pain of his previous relationship. He goes round and round, mentioning different scenarios where he was trying to be what she needed but failed miserably. The lyrics in this song are very metaphorical and profound and the performance is soft and sad just like the persona in the song felt. The violin sounds in the song are very elegant and so beautiful and give the song an extra layer of magnificence
Next up is the song “Open Your Way” The intro is a fusion of heavy rock sound. It seems the character in the song has fallen for a lady but doesn’t have the courage to ask her out. They also seem to be in proximity of each other so he is able to see her going on about her usual routine. As he longed for her, he still did not get the courage to ask her so instead believes that he will see her in another lifetime, a life where they are closer to each other and maybe even together. Musically, the vocal performance is awesome but that electric guitar solo was incredible!!!
Up next is a song called “Firefly”. The song opens with a very exciting drum beat. In the song, the character tries to tell his partner that they should take more risks in their lives, break some rules, and go crazy. Sometimes we are so busy making a living that we don’t realize that our lives have become mundane. The song encourages listeners that sometimes we need to live on the edge and try to spice up their lives. The song is very fast-paced but it is very upbeat and foot-tapping
“Powder-coated penguin in an undisclosed location. The song has a soft intro. The song is about a character who is going through something difficult. The character is challenged to create a chaotic scenario and is asked to try and breathe some positivity into it. The song is very profound. What a lovely song this is
The next song is titled “Another Life”. The song gets right into the vocal performance. The character recalls precious memories she shared with a lady and how they played together, as the story unfolds you will notice that this young couple couldn’t survive. The male character tells her to meet him in another life, where they can be together no matter what. The vocal performance is very passionate and listeners can picture this story in their minds because of the lyrical quality and the vocal performance
“Bring on” is the next song on the album. The song opens with very dreamy and beautiful guitar strums. The song is the backdrop of a mystical story about a courtesan and his discoveries. The choral back voices are so heavenly and so are the violin sounds you hear in the song
“Cityscape 49”. The song opens with these gorgeous guitar sounds. The character in the song just seeks a little silence away from the hustle and bustle of the city. People often escape to the countryside away from everything to just quieten their minds. This song is another hit from the band which includes violin sounds yet again
“Kryptonite” is the next song on the album. The song starts with guitar strums. Now for a little context, kryptonite is a gem or Crystal which is the weakness of the most overpowered superhero, Superman. In various movies, series, and comics, you might even find out that there are various types of this gem and each one has a different effect on Superman. In one movie, he was attacked with white kryptonite and he was blinded by the thing he feared the most which had clouded his mind and made him think that his wife Lois was General Zorg. Unfortunately, Superman beats a pregnant Lois till both she and her baby die. Like Superman, our character is breaking off a relationship that has only brought him pain and hurt and is determined to cut all ties with her. The song is surprisingly upbeat (the electric guitar solo)despite its message
The last song on the record is” Go High”. The song has an exciting intro. The character in the song wants to fly high, above his problems, and above every single thing. This is a nice way of him telling people to get them off his back. The instrumentation is so colorful and so vibrant that you can’t help but dance to it. Hearing this song live will be absolutely amazing. With this song, the album closes with a bang!
Hyde Out has been working to reinvent and alter the sounds that characterized their musical origins since their formation in 2014. Because of Omar’s experience fronting several bands in Europe and Australia and Jaka’s long history of working with well-known popular and classical musicians, the two have a special connection with fans and admirers everywhere. “Moonfactory” is Hyde Out’s comeback to their more subdued, melodious sound and it is a masterpiece. The band is very talented and just like their song “Go High”, they will, in fact, go high!
