EOIN SHANNON’S NEW ALBUM “HIGHS AND LOWS” HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

No Comments Music

We welcome EOIN SHANNON to our blog. We celebrate music here and today we focus on his album. Eoin Shannon, from Cork, Ireland, combines soul, blues, and spiritual influences in his music. Eoin’s album “Highs & Lows,” published on August 1st, features a talented array of musicians and singers. He serves as the lead vocalist. Notable contributors include Tom Savage, who produced and recorded music for many pieces, and Malte Hortsmann and Artem Litovchenko, who gave their musical skills to the sorrowful tune “Happiness Has Come to Town.” Let me walk you through this record

The first song on the album is called “going through hell”. This song opens with a very lovely melody which is mid-tempo. Through the song, we meet a character trapped in a toxic relationship. He talks about how he fell for her and how now, she has him on a leash and at his beck and call. The situation is so bad that, he now asks for help because he’s going through hell. We sympathize with this character and we hope that he is rescued. Musically, the vocal performance is so smooth and the instrumentation complements it beautifully. This song was the perfect way to open the album

The second song on the album is called “Fall into Your Arms Again”. This song goes right to the vocal performance. In the song, the character hyped up his lover and how he can’t wait to be around her, kiss her, and finally, fall into her arms again. Musically, the vocal performance was polished by the backing vocals, mouth percussion, and the instrumentation was just breathtaking

“God only knows” is the next song on the album. This song has a captivating intro. The song talks about a character who talks about his partner in a loving way. He talks about how he treasures the time they spent together and then says, Only God knows how much she means to him and how much he loves her. The instrumentation was delightful but an honorable mention to the vocal performance because it was flawless

“One crazy day” is the next song on the album. The song opens with a strum and an exciting beat. In the song, the character is deeply in love. He talks about how he feels when he is around her but, unfortunately, due to a mishap between them one day, she withdrew and he noticed that she no longer feels the same way about him and tells him that she loves another person. The vocal performance was another standout that I cannot continue without mentioning. This song was fantastic

Next up is the track “Happiness as come to Down”. This song opens with a beautiful piano melody. This song illustrates a character who was drowning in misery but, with a twist of events, happiness had come to town. Now the song doesn’t mention anything specific but, we can assume that this could be a person or an event. The harmonies on this song were insanely good. The piano melody was breathtaking and this song was so beautiful and memorable

“I could fall in love again” is the next song on the record. This song opens with a bass, electric guitar, and drum intro. The song illustrates a person who is persistent in wooing a lady. He tells her that he is going to eventually wear her down and will keep trying (till my heart is sore). He lets her know that if she gives him this chance, he could fall in love again. Musically, the guitar solo on this song was just incredible and left me speechless.

Next up is the track “pull the plug/pull the curtain”. The song opens with an upbeat sound that is quite lovely. The song talks about a character who is getting out of a relationship. He cites many things as the reason for the breakup up but, the main reason was that he thought that he was no good for her and that he didn’t want to keep hurting her. Is this self-sabotage? Probably, probably but, the main thing was that, he wanted to end the relationship. Musically, the vocal performance yet again shone very brightly and the instrumentation was the perfect vibe for the song

Next up is “sad, sad little man”. This song had a very catchy intro. Through the song, we meet a persona who claims he is a sad man living a sad life. He asks for divine intervention but doesn’t seem to do anything to help himself out of that situation. The song had a stellar vocal performance and the instrumentation was very foot-tapping

“Demon lady” is the title of the next song. The song starts with mouth percussion with heavy guitar and drum sounds in the background. So the song talks about a demon lady who is very oppressive and doesn’t even allow free speech. The vocals are yet another showstopper and hearing this song live will be so amazing

“The closer you are to God” is what the next song is called. The song opens with electric guitar strums. This song talks about something quite interesting. According to the song, people who are closer to God are always the target of the enemy. This has been proven, especially in the Bible. A man named Job who was a man after God’s heart, was a person who was most attacked by the devil. He lost his property and his family, just for being a just man. This song was very profound and very entertaining because of the structure of the song and the vocal performance

Up next is “When I Look into Your Eyes”. This song opens with a Latin-influenced guitar melody. The persona in the song, talks about what he sees when he looks into his lover’s eyes. He saw a future with her, and a family with her, just by looking into her eyes. The song is very sensual and passionate and the structure of the song pays homage to it beautifully

Next up is “captain my captain(lord and savior)”. The song goes directly into the vocal performance. The song talks about a persona who tells his captain(Lord and savior), how he has lost control, lost people, his heart, his soul, and lost everything, in misery because of a woman, and cries out for help from the ultimate Captain. The song is very foot tapping, the guitar solo was incredible, and very enjoyable

The last song on the album is called “pull the plug/pull the curtain(zhoca/romacoolguy mix)”. This song is a different mix of the same song discussed earlier. This one has a club/rave feel and it was fun to hear the song in a different dimension. This beautiful song ends the album

The album featured lyrics all written by the artist. Tom Savage produced and composed music for ten tracks on this record. Malte Hortsmann was the pianist for “Happiness Has Come to Town”, Artem Litovchenko performed cello in “Happiness Has Come to Town” and Larry Magee produced and composed the music for “Closer You Are to God”. Zhoca and Romacoolguy contributed music for the “Pull the Plug/Pull the Curtain remix”. When it comes to the Lead and background vocalists; Eoin Shannon was the lead vocalist. Tom Savage: was featured on “Captain, my captain”, “sad little man” and “The closer you are to God. Gaby Duboisjoli was featured on Happiness has come to town and fall into your arms again. Makeda Rose: was featured on “God Only Knows”, and “Demon Lady”. Ross Harmon was featured on “I could fall in love again” and God alone knows. Chanele McGuinness was featured on “Pull the plug/ Pull the curtain” and Zhoca was featured on “Pull The Plug/Pull The Curtain Dance Version”. Sarah Siki performed on One Crazy Day and Tom Savage is also a backup singer for the song “Look into Your Eyes”

Shannon’s album “Highs & Lows” is a testament to his diverse influences, drawing inspiration from legends like Bobby Blue Bland, Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra. The heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies in tracks such as “Demon Lady” and “The Closer You’re To God” showcase Shannon’s deep connection to spirituality and blues roots. Shannon’s album stands out for its emotional depth and musical innovation. Shannon is very talented and I am glad to be on his wild ride to the top
