Greetings dearest gentle reader and music lovers, let’s welcome US artist Rosetta West back to our blog. Oh, I love this band and all their releases I’ve worked on. From the album “Night’s Cross”, to the video and single “Dora Lee, “Snake 25” and “Circle of Doubt”, this band has gone above and beyond to make quality music. On 7th June, this artist released a seven-song album called “Gravity Sessions”. Let’s talk more about this album
The first song on the album is called “Dora Lee”. The song begins with excellent guitar riffs that will captivate you instantly. The song is about a character who is singing his heart out for a girl named Dora Lee. He informs her that she is constantly on his mind (“there’s nothing in my mind except you”) and he would really like it if he got to know her. The guitar tones, solo, and vocal performance are gritty and authoritative, and they complement each other beautifully.
Next up is the song “Suzie”. The song opens with a very impressive guitar melody. In the song, we meet Suzie through the eyes of an unnamed character. The character, who seems to know Suzie intimately, tells the audience who Suzie is. He talks about her hard life and how in spite of that, she was still a sensitive and sweet person. The character lets listeners know how she came to him when she had nowhere to go(”she would come to me in the middle of the night”). The song’s instrumentation might not be in the same vein as the subject of the song but, it works and it is nice to see these contrasting things work so well together to make this masterpiece
“Broken glass” is the title of the next song on this album. The intro is very exciting and foot-tapping. The song talks about a person or being who has witnessed the birth and rise of this new age. He talks about how he has seen a lot of conflict and hurt and is just observing everything (”now we will see who will wield the highest power”). There is a guitar solo mid-song that is very exciting. The guitar work on this song is spectacular and listeners will have a field day with it
Up next is the song “Deeper Than Magic”. The song opens with more thrilling guitar sounds. The song talks about some things in life that are unexplainable but, are somehow deeper and stronger than any magic. This song is yet another powerhouse in this album that listeners should look forward to
Up next is “save me”. This song opens with a bass intro that is so stunning and unforgettable. The song illustrates a character who is crying out to God or a god to save him(”I believe you can save me with your love”). Some people who have been through tough times attribute faith to their healing process. For the non-believers, they still know and thank a higher power they cried to in times of need, for their help getting through the difficult time. The performance was exciting and that bass was so delicious to hear and enjoy
The next song on the album is “Baby Doll”. This song is energetic from the start. In this song, the character cautions a potential love interest that if they get together, things would not be good. He reminds her that she knows him, that he remains the same, and that being together would be a trainwreck. Listeners are not told whether she persisted in staying with the character, but what we do know about her suggests that she is highly persistent and will most likely get her way. The song has a wonderful plot, and the instrumental structure is simply to die for.
The last song on the album is “venous blue”. The song opens with a country blues electric guitar melody that is very intriguing. This is a true rock/country/ blues song. The vocal performance was splendid and that guitar solo was just so mouth-watering. This song ends the album with listeners begging and yearning for an encore. Hearing this song live will be such a dream come true
Just when I thought Rosetta West was good, they proved me wrong and let me know that, they are not good, they are GREAT. Everything about their music is so much bigger and the music more greater. The band has not risen above the glass ceiling, they have shattered it. They ate and left no crumbs with this album. Am I biased because I love their music? Probably, is their music good?, Yes. But please, don’t take my word for it, listen to this album and you too will understand how awesome the band and their music are
