JUDD APATOW ON DOCUMENTARIES, NEPO BABIES, STREAMING, PLEASE DON’T DESTROY

No Comments News

Judd Apatow had a strong sense of déjà vu while on the set of “Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain.”

“We would be out in the woods, kicking around ideas for a weird scene, and I would remember having similar conversations decades ago with Tim Herlihy on ‘Happy Gilmore,’” says Apatow. Except now he was having the conversation with Martin, Tim Herlihy’s son, a member of the New York comedy group and “Saturday Night Life” staple Please Don’t Destroy.

SNL hired Please Don’t Destroy in 2021 to produce short films. Similar to The Lonely Island before them, PPD’s shorts gained rapid popularity, which opened them additional avenues for them to pursue, like producing their first feature film. It also helps that Jimmy Miller stands in for both Apatow and them. In “Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure Of Foggy Mountain,” Ben, Martin, and John embark on a quest to discover a precious treasure

But first, in a narrative told by John Goodman, they have to fight off a cult leader (Bowen Yang) and desperate park officers (Meg Stalter and X Mayo). And Ben’s father is portrayed by Conan O’Brien.
