Greetings, dearest readers and music fans. Let’s welcome Eddie Witz and the most high back to our blog. Eddie Witz is the leader of The Most High, a band of devoted musicians who play music aimed at bringing healing, harmony, and hope to people. This is not Eddie’s first rodeo with this blog because, band has made their mark on me with many of their songs, like the singles, “In California”, “Jamaica Time” and the fantastic album “I am what I am” These songs had the exclusive power to transport listeners to see in the mind’s eye what the band is talking about, and I’m really excited about this song I’m going to write about. On 15th August, the band released a song called “My Island”. Let’s dive into the details of the song.
The song features a bright and beautiful ukulele sound. This intro just made me think of blue skies and sand between my toes, gazing out at the vast blue ocean that stretches for miles and miles.
Let’s talk about the theme of the song. The song is about a persona extending an invite to a very stressed-out person to a getaway place (”let me take you to my island”). The persona isn’t just giving you a surface invitation; he is asking you to live life as if day were the last day of your life. The song is nudging you to enjoy your life and take time to enjoy the simple pleasures because death will eventually come for us all. After all, life is for the living.
Let us talk about the production of the song. Originally co-written by legendary songwriter Jeff Barry, known for timeless hits like ‘Be My Baby’, ‘River Deep – Mountain High’, and ‘Then He Kissed Me’, ‘My Island’ arose from a shared vision: a modern-day retreat steeped in pleasure, groove, and sunlight. Barry and Grammy-winning Jamaican producers Native Wayne and Brian Jobson handed over the reins to Witz, entrusting him with co-producing, arranging, and bringing the track into the modern era. It includes blended, relaxed beats, catchy hooks, and reflective lyrics (”take a step back and you wonder how’d we ever come this far”)that perfectly encapsulate the soulful quality of pop, rock, and reggae music(”a breathtaking guitar solo”) to take listeners to a tropical paradise. It features Deep soul, island rhythms, and Solfeggio frequencies synchronized with the body’s seven chakras.
“My Island” is a complex, genre-blending song that features Sly Dunbar on drums, Robbie Lyn on keys, and Adam Topol on percussion, and is brought to life by Witz’s warm vocals, artistic sensibility, and spiritual presence. Talking more about the song, he sees this song as a metaphor. He explains that the song is about detaching from the distractions of modern life and reconnecting with what’s truly important. It’s about being present in the moment, tuned in, and sharing love and life with family and friends. That is the true message of this song. He also gives a visual of the song in the cover picture of the song. The cover photo sports a gorgeous sunset on the bottom left that really brings the song and its message into perfect perspective.
My Island’ isn’t just a song; it is born out of a major piece of news concerning Eddie’s health, which really made him get his priorities straight, so now, he is using his platform to invite you to join him in appreciating the beauty and wonder of our life on Earth. With this single, Eddie Witz and The Most High’s new chapter begins with this reinvented, remastered release that is more than just a single. It is a healing experience. Join us and let’s heal ourselves together, with Eddie and his band, leading us on a path to total wellness.
