If you’ve ever found yourself at the precipice of self-destruction to witness a miraculous beam of light breaking through, then you know exactly the place where the universe of Noya Sol resides. This fiercely independent Israeli singer-songwriter-guitarist has always had a special form of alchemy within her, seamlessly blending elements of the harshness of alternative rock, the introspection of indie, and the soulfulness of the blues in a way that only she can do. And now, coming back to take a deeper part of our hearts on August 6th, she offers us “Sunlight In My Soul”, an incredible lesson in vulnerability and pure musicality that needs to be experienced as well as listened to. Every aspect of this alternative rock song, which, as you may have already guessed by now, is thoroughly immersed in the deep textures of indie and the soulful pain of the blues, has been created to allow Noya’s weeping guitar licks and her vulnerable vocals to seep out of your speakers. There is no polish here that is going to hide any of her mistakes; instead, she creates an organic soundscape that surrounds her lyrics and gives them a whole other dimension.
“SUNLIGHT IN MY SOUL” ends up being the kind of beautiful and deeply moving redemption story that marries those gorgeous, golden guitars with an absolutely naked, utterly living performance. It is one of those pieces of art that lingers with you well after the last note fades, a powerful present that has quietly and gently spoken to my soul, reminding me that just when the nights seem darkest, we too shall rise again into the light. This world needs artists that bleed honesty into their work, and I have been fortunate enough to stumble upon Noya Sol’s, finding myself completely and proudly hooked, unable to wait to watch her take the world by storm.
