The song opens with a very energetic burst of bass guitar sounds and classical guitar sound that is wildly captivating. The song illustrates a character who is in a distant relationship or away from her person. She tells him how she misses him, she also says that she is barely holding on because she is sad and misses him a lot(“I’m just trying to hold on”). She also asks him if she really needs him and calls him home, will he come home? (“Can I call you home?”). Another running theme is the universal meaning of home, a place or person who you know is your lifeboat when the world or your world is falling apart. Whether it’s romantic or nonromantic, the song makes home its central element, because well, home is home.
