Dearest readers and fans of music, help me welcome US band The Daytime High back to our blog. The band features Michael Johansson on vocals and guitar, David James on vocals and guitar, and Rich Buckland on bass, keys, and programming. The band’s album ‘the daytime high”, is a release that is still on our lips till this day. The band returns to us with another release called “Beauty in the sky”. The song was released on 22nd August, let’s break down the song together.
The song opens with a very exciting drum beat before the other instruments set in. I was mesmerized by this intro because it was so irresistible and delicious.
Thematically, the song is a dramatic redemption story about overcoming adversity to live a more meaningful life. We meet a character who has overcome a lot of adversity. We don’t know exactly what this character’s problems were but we know that this character is on his or her path of redemption and had finally settled in a place where he or she belongs and a place where he or she is desired and welcomed. The song reminds us that when given the opportunity, people can change their ways and revert to a good path and a good lifestyle.
Production wise, this song Is a fascinating record distinguished by catchy melodies, memorable choruses, and outstanding guitar solos. The music was recorded at the Garudio in Thousand Oaks, and the band added a psychedelic flavor to it with a Leslie speaker effect in the bridge. The band draws inspiration from a variety of renowned performers, including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, and Pink Floyd, among others. Their music not only delves into serious topics but also injects a fair amount of humor, resulting in an engaging and diverse listening experience.
To explain further, the band was so committed to selling the fantasy and the story of the song. The cover art of the song shows a beautiful painting and two images of beautiful ladies in the sky. These women look fearless and confident because they have overcome problems and have stepped into their power!, and have truly become the beauty in the sky!
The Daytime High’s music aims to connect with audiences on a deeper level, with a blend of traditional rock emotions that will definitely captivate rock fans worldwide. It is safe to say that, they have achieved that. This song is a testament that people can change and they can recover, this is the kind of hope we need to hold on to in these times and we appreciate the band for reminding us . This band is a talented group of artists and I cannot wait to hear more of their music.
