THE NEW CITIZEN KANE PRESENTS “TALES OF MORPHEUS” THEIR GRAND DEBUT ALBUM

No Comments Music

Greetings dearest gentle readers and music lovers, let’s welcome The new citizen Kane to our blog. The multi-talented London, England-based New Citizen Kane composed, produced, and performed their debut album, “The “Tales of Morpheus.” The New Citizen Kane’s sound is a fusion of jazz, Bossanova, nu-disco, new wave, indie pop, and electronic music that is both unified and varied. Released on January 31, this 21-track album demonstrates the artist’s development and self-assurance, creating a body of work that is both incredibly personal and relatable. The New Citizen Kane’s “The Tales of Morpheus” is a musical adventure. Let’s talk more about it.

What comes to mind when you hear the name Morpheus? Morpheus was the God of Dreams, the one with the amazing ability to appear in dreams of mortals in any form. As his name implies – the Greek word “morphe” means “form” – he was the one who shaped and formed the dreams. The god who was in charge of people’s dreams was Morpheus. People would sleep soundly while in Morpheus’s arms, but they would also dream of their future or even impending occurrences. As the gods’ dream messenger, Morpheus sent heavenly messages through stories and pictures that were conjured up as dreams. As the master of dreams, Morpheus was able to influence people’s views, transmit images there, and give the animals that existed in dreams a form. Morpheus himself could assume any form he desired and was skilled at imitating any human in his nightmares. According to the narrative, Morpheus used his wings to carry his father, the wingless Hypnos, to the caves where he had to be rescued from Zeus’ threat on multiple occasions. He also used them to reach others who needed assistance in their dreams.

All of his various aspects are there in the songs, more so than ever before, and you can sense a lot of my personality. That, he believes, originates Because the record is so varied, that it’s difficult to single out one or two musicians as influences. When it comes to producing music, he listens to and enjoys a very wide range of genres, but the album’s foundations are largely “electronic music,” and there are producers that he greatly admires who have influenced both mainstream and underground music trends.

He discovered that he was experiencing anxiety earlier in 2024; it had likely been there for a while, but he hadn’t realized it until I had a panic attack one day, which kind of rocked him. After my previous album, moved my focus to a “steady career” and future planning, which had prevented me from having the creative outlet he needed to get through it. However, writing and creating music have always been a part of him, and he’s come to recognize that they’ve always helped him stay balanced and cope with stressful situations. After bringing out all of my old gear and setting up his tiny home studio in the spare bedroom/office, the music began to play without him having to turn on the faucets. He initially began recording songs that he had written before but hadn’t yet recorded; the first being Endless Summer. The song, which he believes truly captures his feelings of love, was composed while his husband and was in Casablanca, Morocco, celebrating my 40th birthday with his closest and most treasured friends. People connected with it because it’s straightforward but genuine. The first two were “Could Have Been” and “Forget The World.” Originally, he intended to release the EP as a stand-alone project separate from the album, but people kept coming back to it, so he changed the track listing to include them and “Buy Me A Ticket.” Now, we have a 21-track album that he is really glad he had the opportunity to make and release. The songs are all like tiny chapters or events from his life, from thoughts on my childhood (Morpheus) to being married, so he thinks this is truly the most “him” listeners are going to get.

There are several learning and development opportunities in the song “Buy Me A Ticket.” Like the artist, it’s self-aware and reflective, yet it’s also light-hearted and charming, just like him. People connect with his songs like this one because he wrote from an authentic, vulnerable place because he undoubtedly has a perspective or point of view when putting his feelings into words that are both very relevant and distinctively personable at the same time. Thus, this record is genuine and all that.

“Killer Charisma” is one of the standout songs; in the album, it must have been the lead single. Upon closer inspection, the lyrics are about self-discovery, enjoying life to the fullest, and the ability of music to lift you out of difficult situations. On the surface, it’s an exhilarating, funky disco banger. A whimsical touch is added by the lyrical contrast between the humorous and the reflective, which serves as a reminder to live fully and genuinely and to steer clear of the pitfalls of regret and the ordinary. It serves as a gentle reminder to look behind the glamour and stresses of social media and celebrity culture. Given the subject and the fact that award season is in full swing, the film is also a lot of fun. I created it as a montage of vintage, golden-era Hollywood clips.

“Stupid Blue,” a tiny cheeky charm, had several changes before reaching its current state, but the journey was worthwhile. When we got the bluesy guitar riff in there with the beats and that late-night club piano vibe, he got goosebumps! He kept returning to it because he thought it could be something amazing! Although he rarely used profanity and would never do so for the sake of using profanity, it had to remain because it was worth the explicit classification. The song, which is about that poisonous relationship you know is unhealthy but can’t get enough of, is really honest and visceral. Self-deception provides comfort from the tumultuous emotions that strike like a sledgehammer. The cyclical nature of the relationship and suffering is intended to be reflected and enhanced by the song’s structure and instrumentation.

The song “Alchemy” explores love beyond conventional bounds and talks about the entrancing chemistry that unites two souls in a passionate dance. The beat establishes the mood and transports listeners to a world where love is an exciting experience rather than merely a feeling. There is a light-hearted genuineness right from the first line: “This alchemy is suspicious, he never thought love could be so utterly delicious” is a declaration that captures the complex and dizzying highs of romantic engagement. It portrays love as a contradiction of beauty and turmoil, an adventure and a deliciously perilous experiment. It has sex appeal and is a blend of pop, urban, and electronica music. Although he usually used his upper register since it’s more “radio friendly,” I like singing in my lower register here because that sultry growl adds to the atmosphere.

He taped everything in his spare bedroom. Fortunately, his flat is soundproof and well-insulated, so he doesn’t think his late-night sessions bothered the neighbors too much. He recorded most of his music at night because he is a bit of a night owl and my voice sounds warmer and more relaxed once the moon is out.

This album might not have a complete tie-in with the Greek mythological story but it meets at this point where dreams are discussed in the song. The album is full of emotive subject matter and some that are reliant on dreams. It may not be important but these songs are intentional and a deeper look at the lyrics and the sound have traces of the story of Morpheus. This album was one heck of a ride I will never forget but don’t take my word for it, listen and understand the magic of the album
