Though he might not always bask in the loud glory of being a popular artist, Richard Green is undoubtedly a shining star on our platform. The journey of his growth as an artist is much like watching the progress of history unfold right before your eyes. Having been born under the romantic skies of Italy and raised under the pulsating life of London, Green has been busily re-engineering the very fabric of contemporary music for the past couple of years. He falls under the extremely rare category of visionaries who are known not only for their works but also for the kind of intense anticipation that accompanies each of their new releases. If you have been with us since the beginning, then it is no secret at all that Richard Green is a man who has our unwavering adoration. He has once again blessed us with yet another collection of impeccable, classic pieces that will forever be the soundtrack of our most memorable moments of life. With heart-rending songs such as “Sea Of Memories,” “Just Different,” “Ending Up In A Wrong Way,” the heart-aching beauty of “Sad But Beautiful,” and “Holey Shoes,” he has quite easily taken his rightful place in both the music industry and the depths of our hearts. Once again proving himself to be an artist par excellence, on January 27th he gave us his next offering: the soul-stirring song, “Wasted Tears.”
Right from the get-go, the listener is plunged into a frenetic pulse of sheer, thrilling energy. The beat here is both physically powerful and perfectly timed in the way it comes through in the production. Alongside this is a set of dazzling, glimmering synthesizer lines that float and weave their way through the composition in a perfect balance of filtration. This combination of sounds serves to create a brilliant sonic arrival that is both complex and utterly captivating to the ear. What Richard Green does not do here is play it safe and take the conventional path of a gradual build-up in the composition. Instead, he starts off his track with his best material laid out before us.
As for the theme of “Wasted Tears,” Richard Green gets right to the heart of the matter. Indeed, this song is all about that heartbreak that every one of us is bound to experience at some point in our lives—the bitter taste of having devoted all our sincere feelings to something or someone that did not deserve them. However, unlike many other songs that just dwell on heartbreak and leave it at that, Green’s wonderful philosophical perspective allows him to turn all this sadness into something beautiful. Essentially, he presents his song as a journey of life that goes from the naïveté of childhood to the wisdom of adulthood. Every tear shed, every “wasted tear,” is never in vain because it becomes the very thing that makes us mature and strong.
The track, “Wasted Tears,” is an undisputed masterpiece and focal point of the artist’s unique music repertoire, which brilliantly highlights Richard Green’s unique ability to create a moody, dark, and atmospheric music texture combined with melodic hooks that, once heard are never forgotten. Featuring in his larger work of “Electronic Therapy” EP, which consists of six tracks, “Wasted Tears” stands out as one of the most original, representative and important works by Richard Green. The unique ability of the artist to combine lyrical depth with innovative production skills makes him truly unmatched and unique.
This time around, Richard Green has once again shown that there is absolutely no one else in his class when it comes to being a master at what he does. From the opening second, the listener is immediately transported into an amazing world of sound that is constructed with the level of attention to detail that feels as if it were specially made just for us to get lost in. To watch an artist execute his vision with such ease is an experience that leaves me completely amazed. He has done it once again, and I can’t wait to see what brilliance he will create next.
