Dearest readers and music fans, you’re welcome to our blog. Today, we take a trip to the US and we welcome WYCH HAZLE to this space. On 15th August, this artist released an album called “THE DEATH OF R&B MIXTAPE 2:CHANGELING”. Please stick with me and let’s go through these songs together
The title track of the record is “Special Report”. This song features the artist SunAshay. The song opens with a recorded message about how old people are stuck somewhere because they can’t move quickly and can’t afford it. The song talks about the problems that we face in this world. He mentioned things like rappers dying, xanax abuse, and undocumented. The song is a repost about what we face in this modern and technological age. The rap was profound and the vocal performance was beautiful. This song sounds like “Power Trip”, a song by J Cole and Miguel. What a wonderful way to open the album
“Close Enough” is the next song on the album. The song opens with a recording about natural problems Tokyo is facing and then the stringed instrumentation and the rap begin. This song is about the natural problems we are facing due to climate change. This song was very interesting and the rap was so cool and profound
Up next is the song “Numbers”. This song also opens with a recording that sounds like an old movie because of the sound effects. When the song begins it’s very interesting. The song talks about how the world is a numbers game but it isn’t a game because people get killed. The song talks about calling codes at first but later the song mentions police codes that the police use to describe crimes. This song highlights police brutality against black people which is very much appreciated. The rap was amazing and the punchlines were flowing freely
“Dustpan” is the next song on the album. The song plays a sound of a salesman and then another salesman who sells a comb that gives hair a fuller look, the voice is very similar to Eddie Murphy’s. The character in the song is very confident and cocky. He announces that he’s going to sweep every other rapper into a dustpan and flush them down the toilet. The use of the toilet flushing sound was very brilliant and immerses listeners further into the song. The rap had bar after bar and it was very enjoyable
“Creature feature” is the next song. This song packs a serious punch! The rap, the beat, and the lyrics all point to an entertaining experience that you won’t forget anytime soon!
The next song is “The Hive Cinema”. The song opens with a recording about insects. This song uses animals as a metaphor for life. As he goes through the animals, he makes comparisons and similarities. The rap and the beat were very thrilling and very foot-tapping
“The changeling” is the next song on the album. This song features SunAshay and ShenAura. The song opens with what sounds like a documentary about nature. The song is about a person who tries to hide what he or she can do and keeps changing like a chameleon The vocals on this song are very impressive and complement the rap perfectly
The eighth song on the album is called “Forbidden Fruit”. The song features SunAshay. The song opens with another recording and then, a beautiful guitar melody greets you. The song is about a character who has fallen deeply for a woman. He describes her with so much glee and their physical connection is something that he really enjoys and cherishes. This song was sexy and very exciting to listen to
“B.A.G. (Black American Gigolo)” is the next track on the record. This song features ShenAura. The song is about a who has a side hustle just to make ends meet. The song opens with a recording of a man who is giving someone a gift before the beat drops. This song features ShenAura and talks about how money means nothing without good love The rap was cool and the vocal performance was passionate and exciting. Nine songs in, this album is still giving hit after hit
The next track is called “The Greats”. The song opens with a recording of a person addressing how he released his music. The song features ShenAshay talking about the greats who are. He mentions the names of people who have influenced the culture like Michael Jackson and Kanye and how they deserve their flowers. This song was an appreciation to these people and it was incredible
The last song is called “Name Game”. The song opens with another recording of someone teaching the pronunciation of certain words before the beat drops. The song is about mantras and lifestyle. The rap was flowing freely and beautifully. This album ended with a flair that listeners will love
This is a sonic exorcism. WYCH HAZLE offers a genre-bending, emotionally raw mixtape that questions the state of modern R&B while reviving its essence with experimental production, poetic songwriting, and shameless vulnerability. This is R&B stripped of its sheen and reinvented as a fight for identity, resistance, and rebirth. Imagine Frank Ocean meeting JPEGMAFIA in a haunting cathedral. CHANGELING, with its warped gospel loops and muttered confessions over broken drum machines, is a reckoning. It is for listeners who want more than just vibes—they want the truth. I love how bold the album is and I can’t wait to hear more from Hazle
