FIND YOUR PLACE AND YOUR SAFE HAVEN WITH SEVEN SHADES OF NOTHING’S “WHEN THE LIGHTS GO DOWN”

No Comments Review

Greetings to all my lovely readers and music fans. SEVEN SHADES OF NOTHING is the artist who takes the day. Seven Shades of Nothing is the brainchild of James Cole, an Australian songwriter, producer, visual artist, and filmmaker. The project began in seclusion, formed by years of pushing his voice, teaching himself production, and following ideas until they became reality. On 15th August, he released a song called “When the Lights Go Down”. Let’s talk about it.

The song opens with a dramatic, dark, bold, and captivating melody. It will hit you like a truck and leave you speechless.

Let’s talk theme. This song is a personal story from the artist’s life. At the time he wrote this, he was in a very sad place, feeling deceived by people in the film industry and burdened down by noise, ego, and despair. Looking out across the sea, I found myself wishing the city would simply go black, allowing the stars to shine as they should. He was tired of relying on the world; he just wanted a new world, a haven where he would feel at peace. As a result, he truly felt a connection to something larger than myself, something that made his woes insignificant. That day, the stars were his secure haven.

Production-wise, James Cole, a singer, producer, visual artist, and filmmaker, is responsible for all aspects of Seven Shades of Nothing, including writing, recording, and graphics. Two years of studying, honing his voice, and writing songs by himself gave rise to the project. His lived experience with autism, ADHD, and a lifetime of navigating the world as an outsider transformed what started as an experiment into a comprehensive body of work.

The song was fashioned and impacted by those difficulties, which dictated the meticulous attention to detail, the multi-layered narrative, and the determination to pursue a concept until it was realised. Troy McCosker of Audio Ninja, who has worked with globally renowned progressive and metal artists like Ne Obliviscaris, was given the task of final mixing.

Instead of letting his cognitive differences control him, he took charge of them. The song is not just entertaining; it reinforces the fact that we all need to catch a break sometimes, his talent, and just hope that things will be brighter for us, even when the lights go down.
