When Jennifer Hough’s lawsuit against Nicki Minaj was dropped, the Barbz were quick to react, but according to Rolling Stone, the rapper’s legal issues are far from done. Hough, Minaj’s spouse Kenneth Petty’s alleged rape victim, filed a lawsuit against the rapper in August 2021. Petty allegedly assaulted and raped Hough at knifepoint in 1994, according to Hough. Petty was sentenced to four years in jail after pleading guilty to a lesser crime of attempted rape.
Hough accused Minaj of intimidation and harassment in her complaint, however it was recently revealed that the case had been dismissed. Seven N. Gordon, Hough’s attorney, told a judge that they planned to file again in a “court with legitimate authority.” They’re relocating their operations from New York to California, where Minaj and Petty live.

“We still feel very strongly about the merits of the case against both of them,” Gordon reportedly told Rolling Stone.
Hough and her crew will not be any more successful in California than they were in New York, according to Minaj’s lawyer.
“This is just a frivolous gambit to avoid a sanctions motion which I told them that I would be filing shortly and for which they refuse to set a schedule,” lawyer Judd Burstein said in a statement. “As usual, they have decided to adopt a tactic without bothering to research the law. Had they done so, they would realize that re-filing their frivolous action in another jurisdiction will only result in another court sanctioning them.”
Meanwhile, Petty is scheduled to appear in court in March for sentencing on charges of failing to register as a sex offender in California.
