Ayra Starr, in a recent interview, opened up on how she got her stage name before the release of her debut project.
Talented singer and performer Ayra Starr, in a recent podcast interview with Joey Akan on Afrobeats Intelligence, opened up on how she came by her stage name before the release of her debut project.
Ayra revealed that she had always gone by the name Oyin which is her real name, but when she sat with her team, Don Jazzy, Rema and others they thought of what stage name she should have. She revealed that she would have gone by ‘Aira,’ but many would pronounce it as ‘Ira’, so she abandoned the thought.
She opened up that her mum had advised her to pray over it since she wanted a name that would mean something. Ayra revealed that she ended up googling the name ‘Ayra,’ which is Arabic, and when she saw the meaning, everything fell into place for the ‘Sability’ crooner.
