Greetings lovely readers and music fans today, we highlight the talent of US artist Boy Grapes. Boy Grapes just released an EP called “Uh huh”. This 5 song EP was released on 30th June, let’s talk more about it
The EP’s title track is “Irun Therisk”. The song opens with a burst of energy that is very inviting. The persona in the song has decided to trust himself only and has chats with himself(“I run the risk of talking to myself”) and he trusts himself and knows that if he does talk to himself he will get to the root of his problems because he can’t hide from himself (“wanna talk about my feelings”). The song has some rock elements in it and the vocal performance is completely in sync with the instrumentation of this song, you can tell how the rest of the songs will go
Next is the song “At Least I’m in the Air”. The song’s intro is a lovely guitar strum. The song is about a complex relationship between two lovers. On one hand, he knows she knows she has made mistakes(“what you take from me you keep”), and on the other hand, is the guy also trying to heal the mistakes he made(“if I never rise above(I want you to smile)”. This song is a soft rock song which has a profound message of how complex human relationships can be
“So dead” is the title of the next song. This is yet another song with an upbeat intro. The song is about survival of the fittest. The song speaks on the hard truth that sometimes you have to do what it takes to get ahead in life(“trying to get ahead”). The song actually encourages listeners to use force and be focused to stay alive (“TLC ain’t gonna do shit around here”). Boy Grapes is very passionate about what he is performing about and repeats the line “You’re so dead” to emphasizes his point and takes on an entertaining journey
“Hell O” is the song next up. The song is a change of pace in the album, although the intro of the song is bold and bright piano notes. The song describes a persona who says he is about to tell someone off and tells the person he’s about to tell off that they are going to hate what he’s about to say (” Cause it’s coming if you want or not”). The persona is talking to another party that the person or group of people they hate or are prejudiced against were also created by God(”Your God made the people that you hate”). The piano notes pierce through the vocal performance making it crisp and flawless
The last song on the EP is titled “Causeyouwanna”. This country-infused song has a delicate and soft opening. The song which features a beautiful female voice backing him talks about a relationship or friendship which has been broken. (”I tried to take the pain away I could”) but he finally realizes that nothing will make it right and things are bound to come to an end sooner or later (” It gotta come to an end though, sooner or later”). The song advises listeners that you can’t hold on to a relationship or friendship just because you want to. Boy Grapes gives a remarkable performance that is so pure and so tender and the instrumentation is subtle which allows Boy Grapes’ voice to really shine through. This song leaves with a lasting feeling even after the song and the song and album have ended
Boy Grapes has created a collection of songs that anyone who loves music will fall in love with no matter the genre it is. He has created a genre-bending EP that was meticulously made and produced by himself and has shown that he is a music prodigy and he will change the music industry completely.
