In essence, The Lazz is the culmination of Ben Lazzaro’s life work, which has spanned several decades and encompasses his identity as a skilled composer and guitarist. For nearly four decades now, Lazzaro has been perfecting his craft to the point where it culminates in The Lazz, which is one of the most sophisticated projects ever created by the composer. However, what sets The Lazz apart is not just Lazzaro’s talent for crafting musical notes but the unique combination of talents possessed by the creator of this project. In fact, in addition to being a gifted musician, Lazzaro is also a trained artist who has worked as a 3D Digital Artist in the gaming industry for over ten years. The project is also designed as a Hybrid-Human production facility, an exquisite combination of art where Lazzaro individually writes, composes and masters all melodies. Though, despite the live guitar and bass parts being entirely performed by humans, it perfectly fits with the altered system of generation of voices, drum and atmosphere sounds. Such a blend of human and machine art was created not only for aesthetic pleasure but for the purposeful investigation of Jungian concepts of the Shadow and the Persona. It is also worth mentioning that the author’s idea goes beyond audio recording and encompasses the whole multi-media performance. In his projects, Lazzaro writes, directs and produces the official music videos. Thus, one may state that this project can be regarded as a perfect example of artistic creativity, where the artist becomes its author and director at once.
“The Resonance” is much more than an individual song. It is the captivating opening shot in the construction of an expansive universe developed by an artist that has a strong sense of identity, as well as cinematic vision. This track is an excellent example of how great music comes together with a story that makes the listener curious enough to want to follow it. For me personally, this song was an introduction to the creation of a beautiful new universe that Ben Lazzaro is putting together. To see such a degree of craftsmanship in the debut part of his work is quite rare, but at the same time, very promising. I can’t help but beg the artist for another piece of this amazing puzzle. While the world waits for the artist to continue developing his world, his fans eagerly wait for their turn.
