Greetings dearest readers and music fans everywhere. Let’s give a warm welcome to KOBURG. Based in the UK, she is a solo artist and one-woman band. She composes every song, plays every instrument, and sings every note. On 5th July, She released a two-song EP called “This Game Called Love”. Let’s dive right into the details of the EP
The first song is called “This Game Called Love (Transcendent version)”. The song begins with these heavenly stringed instruments and in that moment I thought to myself “This must be what heaven sounds like” and I was more amazed when Koburg started singing. The song paints a vivid picture of how a broken or toxic relationship looks and feels (” My heart isn’t a battleground”). It seems like even though the character isn’t being treated well she keeps going back to him(”craving your touch in the darkest time,”). Now this is a harsh truth and reality that we have to accept because some people do think love is a game and string their partners along like puppets or chess pieces on a chess board. Koburg sings for dear life, giving her all and letting go and letting the music sweep her up. The instrumentation is ridiculously amazing, breathtaking and so, do heavenly and the heaving breathing sounds you hear at the beginning of the song and later on in the song give you the illusion of someone tired or someone out of breath which is part of the mental image the song wants to convey to listeners.
The next and final song on the EP is “This Game Called Love (Twisted version)”. This version of the song is far from gentle. It is angry, dark, powerful, and exciting right from the jump. This version of the song is soft rock and Koburg doesn’t sound demure, shy, or sad. The sound in this version speaks volumes about a character who has risen from the ashes and taken control. No longer a pushover, this character is a woman scorned. A woman who is ready to fight for her mental stability and safeguard her heart in the process. I’m super impressed by Koburg for showing her fans and prospective fans the range and capabilities of her voice. Soft when it needs to be and fierce when it needs to be. Listeners should look out for the electric guitar solo in the song that is off the chain!! This song closes out the EP with a renewed energy
Where has Koburg been all my life??, this is a question I asked myself when I listened to this EP. Koburg has a very charismatic allure in her voice which will make you want to listen to her music over and over again like I did. This EP shows the various talents that Koburg possesses. Koburg is standing on business, hop on her train of music skills and you will never forget it
