The eight years of experience that TendeRage shares is what gives TendeRage their edge. When two artists have experienced over eight years of life, love and artistic growth together, there is an effortless connection between the two artists; it is a seamless telepathic partnership where nothing is held back and there is no filter. This creates a bond where they can shift from total vulnerability to chaotic rage effortlessly. The choice of London as the setting is perfectly understandable, considering the atmosphere created in the EP. You can clearly tell that there is a certain influence from the UK in the juxtaposition between slick, gloomy synths and hard, industrial alt-rock beats. Visiting an energetic and overcrowded city such as London allows you to get all of the pent-up anxiety and emotions out, which is why the concept of the project is “a warm embrace that suddenly becomes a slap in the face.” They released a five-song EP on 18th September, titled “TendeRage”. The Number one song is “BLAH BLAH BLAH”. The song begins with a heavy bass, low-passed filter on an electric guitar riff that faintly plays in a dead stereo field, before being immediately broken by a clean, uncompressed sub-bass drop and a close-up dry vocal delivery. The topic explores the concept of emotional overwhelm, tiredness with communication, and weariness with the constant chatter that lacks any meaning at all. The character in the song tells us her experience of being with a man who decided that he was smarter than her, debasing anything she said or did. In the song’s lyrics, REDESYA captures the moment when patience runs out when faced with the frustration of empty threats, insincere apologies, and meaningless chatter. The music in REDESYA oscillates from a disdainful, rhythmic rap cadence in the verses to an intense, bellowing vocal attack in the chorus. The instruments in the track combine fast-paced percussion beats inspired by trap music, distorted 808 bass slide, and crystal-clear synthesis chord progressions. There is a tension between the sleek pop feel and rough punk attitude through the musical instruments in the song. “BLAH BLAH BLAH” instantly energizes the listeners with the empowering catharsis for feeling frustrated about shallow relationships.
Opening with a gentle unrefined electric guitar line in the key of minor, which is accompanied by the faint sound of room tone and the occasional sound of the pedal being depressed, the introduction establishes an unpolished and very personal environment where a low note. The lyrical piece deals with the themes of grieving, reflecting, and exposing oneself. In “Liv”, REDESYA takes the concept of the spirit of a former relationship or even of the old self into consideration, where this “Liv”, is the old self or the inner person within us. It is an incredible intimate vocal track, which begins with falsetto and subtle vibrato in the verse part followed by multi-layered harmonies that surround the chorus in a choral fashion. Musically speaking, the composition evolves gradually from its modest guitar beginnings to create a magnificent sound palette with deep sub-bass, beautiful strings, and slow tempo drum beats. Emotionally, it is an incredibly strong experience for the listener, who feels the bitter-sweet feeling of tranquility allowing for self-reflection and understanding that kindness can be just as overpowering as anger.
The opening is marked by an instantaneous high-speed, panned delay of a synthesizer arpeggio which flies over the stereo field almost instantly followed by a low frequency sub-bass and the sound of a deep breath right before a powerful kick. In thematic terms, the song deals with hard truths, broken illusions, and the difficult decision to choose empowerment over easy falsehoods. Using the theme of waking up to reality as its muse, the lyrics of “RED PILL” detail the tough experience of removing societal pressures and poisonous dependencies to take full control of one’s life. This song is the embodiment of the phrase “the only way out is through”, meaning that you need to swallow the bitter truth sometimes and yes, it will suck but, in the end, you will come out better on the other side. Voice-wise, REDESYA provides a dominant voice filled with vocal fry, clear pronunciation, and tight-knit unison vocals that manage to stand out through the thick production. The instruments feature strong industrial drumming kits, metallic snares, and a heavy grungy synth-bassline that creates a vibrant vibe for the track. It leaves one with the feeling of being electric and aggressively motivated to confront one’s own life problems head-on.
An exquisite Fender Rhodes progression of the electric synth saturated with warm tremolo begins the song, with the addition of finger snaps and the sound of guitar playing. The attention is drawn now to the complicated web of admiration, envy, and projection of one’s own personality onto another person in intimate relationships. In the case of the song “Jessie”, described in REDESYA’s story, the artist reveals how insecurity turns a desire for another person into a torturing reflection of oneself. In terms of vocals, REDESYA shows incredible flexibility, seamlessly switching between smooth chest voice singing and R&B melodic runs over the chorus. In the music, there are analog basses, electric guitar touches, and even acoustic-sounding drums with hi-hat fills. For the listener, this combination has a powerful grounding effect that is relatable, reflecting the struggle of wanting someone that we can’t have, something that everyone experienced at least once in life.
While the last song opens with a glimmering, acoustic guitar chord, which sounds intimate and stripped down completely. From a lyrical perspective, the track works as an introspective exploration of memory, time, and discovering tranquility amid the pain of endings. For “Blue Nostalgia”, the lyrics lament the loss of the golden times of the past but also warn about being stuck in them. The vocal performance of REDESYA ranges widely across its dynamic spectrum. From gentle, whispery register singing at the beginning to dynamic belting in the climactic final verse, with backing vocals adding to the atmosphere. In terms of instrumentation, there is the emergence of an indie rock/synth pop fusion with soaring guitar melodies, pads, and builds on drums. It all leaves you feeling a cathartic closure with which TendeRage ends on a bittersweet note of hope and resilience.
From the raw intensity of Liv to the brutally cathartic, no-holds-barred criticism of fake friends on Blah Blah Blah, all the way through the radiant and fluid self-discovery of Jessie and the tender yet wistful Blue Nostalgia, TendeRage is without question a lesson in emotional duality. In this EP, REDESYA masterfully manages the balance between vulnerability and rage, creating a unique alt-pop world where the lyrics are uniquely crafted for the human condition. This artist has such an authentic way of telling her stories that listening to her songs and engaging with her EP becomes almost an experience of discovery for one’s own feelings. This is not about just hearing music—it is all about getting to know your own emotions through the most intimate and powerful voice at once. Discovering her EP was like getting acquainted with a masterpiece, and I would do literally anything to listen to what REDESYA will come up with next.
