THE LATEST HANIFA PRESENTATION, HOSTED AT THE SALAMANDER RESORT IN MIDDLEBURG, VIRGINIA, ESTABLISHES A NEW ERA FOR THE BRAND.

The initial bridal presentation for Hanifa by Anifa Mvuemba was elegant. Hanifa’s most recent foray into the bridal market was hosted at the gorgeous Salamander Resort in Middleburg, Virginia, which is Black-owned and operated. The expansive grounds provided the ideal setting. The designer stated that she aimed to create an intimate, wedding-like event that was both welcoming and accessible before her exhibition. She invited her best clients, editors, and nearby brides she knows personally to do this.

Nearly an hour before her exhibition, she stated, “With bridal, I’ve always wanted to be in a setting where I can make custom couture gowns. Mvuemba also emphasised her goal of altering how people view luxury. She highlighted a 2021 performance in Washington, D.C., where everyone was seated in the front row.

Because you don’t have access to couture, it can be difficult to see oneself wearing the clothes in those stunning displays. By producing bridal gowns, pieces, and accessories at affordable price points, she breaks the glass ceiling and subverts this ideal.

In the collection, Mvuemba offered her own interpretation of what today’s brides might desire. The first look featured a posh, lengthy white cape-esque gown that glided gracefully down the runway. Other options include designs with intricate corset bodices. One dress, in particular, featured a satin bottom and a glittered nude bodice, while another option in a deeper brown boasted thousands of beads encrusted into the fabric. The collection also showcased a spectacular ball gown made of white silk and a ruched tulle number with an oversized bow at the bottom. The final look, an exquisite off-white gown with raw hemming on the layered exterior, marked the dawn of Anifa’s new era
