A new comedy special by Matt Rife has been added to Netflix. The one-hour stand-up performance, titled “Natural Selection,” will make its debut later in 2023. Rife will “leave no topic untouched — from crystals to social media trolls — and no audience member spared,” according to the logline for the special.

As part of Rife’s “ProbleMattic World Tour,” “Natural Selection” will be recorded at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. on September 22 and 23. Irony Point, the production studio behind comedic titles like “I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson,” “Inside Amy Schumer,” and “That Damn Michael Che,” is the source of the programme, which is executive produced by Rife and Christina Sham

Viral social media content helped Rife gain popularity as a comedian; on TikTok, for example, he is the most watched comedian on the platform. In addition, he self-produced and uploaded three comedy specials to YouTube prior to “Natural Selection”: “Only Fans,” “Matthew Steven Rife,” and “Walking Red Flag.” With almost 260 events scheduled, Live Nation’s ProbleMattic Tour is completely booked up.

Rife appeared on television for the first time as the youngest cast member of MTV’s “Wild ‘n Out.” Following four seasons of the unscripted comedy series presented by Nick Cannon, he made appearances in other MTV shows, such as the host of “TRL” relaunch and “The Challenge.” Additionally, he had appearances in episodes of Fresh Off the Boat, North of the 10, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Rife is represented by CAA, Felker Toczek Suddleson Abramson McGinnis Ryan, and R&CPMK in addition to Shams via Avesta Entertainment.
