Let’s open the red carpet for MoreTrue, a Swiss band. Their style of rock is free-flowing and unafraid to collide with pop and electro-pop, with the occasional return to the neon glow of the 1980s feeling not only appropriate but also essential. They released a new song called “Haters” on January 17. It’s time to remove the layers, enter the sound, and discover the precise elements that make this song work.
A drum and bassline groove opens the song, locking in right away. It’s difficult to describe that bass because it moves you in addition to sounding amazing. It’s pure electricity. The introduction makes it very evident right away: fasten your seatbelt, hold on tight, and prepare for a ride that won’t let up once it gets going.
Let’s now enter the song’s core. A song about haters may seem almost predictable at first. They are disliked by everyone, and the song does provide a biting indictment of that. However, MoreTrue does more than just criticise. Rather than merely blaming, they shed light on potential sources of this resentment. The hatred on display stems from more subdued wounds, loneliness, fear, and an agonizing sense of being wronged by the world rather than from strength or confidence. By asking us to look past the cacophony and see the human frailties beneath it, the song transforms criticism into introspection.
Let’s now discuss production. A distorted bass that knows when to retreat to a whisper and when to roar mercilessly carries a driving rhythm that pulses at its core. The song’s spine is provided by this push and pull, which grounds it in a raw, existential quality that is exactly where MoreTrue really shines. The lyrics are shaped to be as poignant, eerie, or even terrifying as possible by the band’s almost obsessive attention to detail. Every word is carefully considered, put to the test, and then rewritten until it is flawless. So get ready for what comes next. Yes, it can hurt, but this is the unvarnished truth.
This song is fantastic. Art that dares to humanize the so-called villains, that sees past the simple labels and exposes the misunderstood individuals beneath the animosity, always appeals to me. Haters don’t justify bad behavior, but they do something much more significant: they allow us to briefly see the world from their perspective. Any song that can change people’s perspectives in that way has genuine power, which is a sign of something exceptional. MoreTrue has really won me over with this song, and I’m eager to hear what they have coming up.
