Daniella Goldfine, a young Israeli vocalist, and Ukrainian guitarist Oleh Andrievski have both experienced being woken up at night by sirens to go to a shelter. The cooperation itself exemplifies perseverance and cross-border connection: a little Israeli girl dedicating her voice to peace, and a Ukrainian guitarist finding consolation and strength in music amid violence. “Is peace on earth just an illusion? / Must Cain kill Abel again and again?” These phrases were taken from old stories, and although they are old stories, they feel heartbreakingly modern because, like the song title, these wars, terrible times, and pain are still going on. The song finishes with a slight but undeniable echo of John Lennon: “You may say I’m a dreamer / But I’m not the only one.”

The song, written and produced by Frank Renfordt, is strongly entrenched in the classic folk genre of the early 1970s, evoking the introspective approach of Joan Baez and early Bob Dylan.
