It would truly be an injustice to refer to a genius of this caliber as a mere “artist,” as his transcendent collection of work is responsible for setting the tone for our lives. At the center of Stevette Music, Inc., C’batch never stops pushing the limits of the possible in his quest for musical perfection. But even now, we are totally entranced with the divine transcendence of “Song for God” and the naked, unfiltered catharsis of “Trapped (I’m Doing Fine),” not to mention the spectacular, vast worlds he painted in the Next Time (I Won’t Be Falling) EP, the colorful metamorphosis in C’batch The Vault 2 (Soul/RNB/Pop/Rock/Reggae), and the smooth and rough duality of The Vault 1 (C’batch Smooth / Rough), among other songs such as “Next Time (I won’t be falling/ you’ve got me falling).” But great legends do not live off their accomplishments, and just like the best of them, C’batch makes sure that he leaves nothing behind, giving us one of the greatest masterpieces, a 20-track album. Released on July 10th, the legendary “The Vault 4 – Cinematic” has come into the world, and it’s time to lower our heads and talk about this magnificent achievement.
The trip begins with The Beat Of The Night (Alternate Version), diving right into the throbbing bassline of synth and the clicking percussion of electronics before even a melody is heard. The album continues with a series of songs reflecting on the experience of being alone but plugged in to the electric energy of cities late at night and how the landscape becomes a platform for inner reflection and aspiration once all the other people are gone. From a musical standpoint, the song is driven by a combination of deep and rich low frequencies and high frequencies produced by the glittery arpeggios of the synth.
Without missing a beat, the Clubadub (Cinder Circuit Game Board) 3-track starts right away with the quick, staccato bleep from an electronic source and a pounding four-on-the-floor kick drum rhythm which replicates the urgency of the digital interface of the arcade. The story that is being told here is about navigating in digital space, overcoming simulated obstacles, and the challenge of controlling oneself while playing in a digital maze. The music in this song makes use of sound design glitches in electronics, sharp mechanical percussion, and mid-range synthesizer hooks for creating a kinetic cadence.
“Breaking My Heart” (Orchestra & Cinematic) is a piece that arises out of a weeping, solo cello sustain note before blossoming into an epic sweep of the entire string orchestra and timpani strikes. The emotional heart peels back the layers of meaning in the heavy load of the break of trust, following the reverberations of a heart-wrenching goodbye in which all words are unnecessary. The musical elements of the vibrant, vibrato-rich acoustic strings and delicate electronic sub-elements combine to create a massive wall of sound that is not only emotionally heartbreaking but also majestic.
Beginning with an ominous radar ping at a high frequency that gradually fades into an ambient pad of warmth and drift, Trapped (Mental Telepathy Is)(2) creates a sense of confinement of the psyche. The theme revolves around unseen connections, overthought and overthinking in a confined space, and the need to break free mentally from such an environment. Musically, the piece is built around the use of a lone synthetic note and bass drone that mimic a solitary mind echoing in a large void.
Ascension (To Our Love) opens with a bell-like ascending arpeggio that gives an immediate uplifting feeling and after that is followed by an electronic heartbeat that creates a constant rhythmic pattern. Emotionally, the song is about overcoming the problems of the past and attaining the freedom and elevation to the next level thanks to the magic of love. Instrumentally, the song makes use of bright synths, melodies, and electronic beats that help the listeners fly to heaven, reaching their peak emotionally.
Opening with a sorrowful, lonely piano chord progression which seems to reverberate within an immense acoustic environment, Next Time (I Won’t Be Falling) – cinematic develops into a multi-layered musical composition. The lyrical meaning refers to the wise and careful knowledge that is achieved after being hurt in a relationship, reflecting on the sensitive and fearful moments when one prepares himself for the act of loving once again. In terms of music, the combination of an intimate and emotional acoustic piano and delicate cinematic strings creates a beautiful balance between the delicate and majestic.
Spring (Alternate Version) opens up with a cascade of sharp electronic woodwind imitations and a lively percussion line, all hinting at abrupt rejuvenation in springtime. The main motif of the song reflects the restless excitement of the moment, when one is getting rid of the past winter clothing to get into the warmth and surprise of the spring sun. The concept is based on instances of sudden enlightenment, smart solutions, and that pleasant click of things falling into place. From a musical point of view, the tune is a clever combination of quirky, retro-inspired electronic effects and a slick, contemporary production style with a solid rhythm. The track draws in the listener through pure fun.
The opening to The Dance Song (Alternate Version) is marked by an irresistible, syncopated electronic clap and an energetic rhythm section that calls for dancing right from the start. Thematically, the song revolves around free expression, celebration, and getting lost completely in the liberating rhythms of music and dance. In terms of the musical elements employed in the song, these include the use of amazing synth patterns, funky bass lines, and an upbeat tempo that does not let up at all.

With a lazy, smoky-sounding electronic progression along with a percussion track that involves finger-snapping, “In the Mood?-2” creates a wonderfully cool and nocturnal atmosphere right from the very beginning. The song is about the pleasure of mystery and romance when you have conversations late at night. It is also about the powerful attraction between the two people. There are some very smooth sounds in the music which include velvet synths, electric guitar sounds, mid-tempo rhythms, and a seductive cadence.
Next Time (I Won’t be Falling) 1a takes on well-known emotional themes by starting off with a reflective, shaky synth chord progression followed by a strong rhythm section. The story behind the song is all about learning how to stand up for oneself, how to keep oneself safe from harm, and how to have enough emotional knowledge to recognize when one is about to get caught up in a situation one has been through before. “Breaking my heart (movie version)” requires a more profound dive, starting with a sorrowful electronic sound that turns into a massive orchestral performance. As for the lyrical essence, it touches upon the theme of the aftereffects of a broken relationship when the absence of the person you love is felt in every part of the room. In terms of musical elements, Breaking My Heart includes a large number of string arrangements, dynamic changes, and dramatic percussion.
“Trina-Tina 2**” begins with a highly eccentric and complex electronic beat accompanied by a fun synth melody. This track is the musical representation of an interesting and lively personality. It is a delicate balance, as easily placed next to high-quality contemporary film soundtracks as next to the headphones of anyone who genuinely loves emotional electronic/ambient soundscapes at midnight.
Truth without reservation: I have finally surrendered, completely, to the incomprehensible genius of c’batch. I surrender myself completely to the magnificence of his name in the face of a genius artist whose music can still do things we never thought possible.
