Rema and Davido emerged as the top winners at the 2023 Trace Awards, held in Kigali, Rwanda on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
The worldwide TV and multimedia platform Trace has launched a new awards programme called the Trace Awards with the goal of honouring performers with African and Afro-influenced styles who are from Africa and the African diaspora.
Top-tier performers from all around the world, including Davido, Yemi Alade, Mr. Eazi, and Diamond Platnumz, performed that evening. The singer of “Calm Down,” Rema, won two prizes: Best Global African Artist, a tie with Nomcebo, and Song of the Year for his international success. Afrobeats Pop artist Davido also won two prizes, taking home Best Male and Best Collaboration honours for his work on “Unavailable,” a song with Musa Keys, while Burna Boy won Album of the Year for “Love Damini.”
A lifetime achievement award for 2Face Idibia, a Change Maker award for Mr. Eazi, and the Best Global African Artist honour shared by Rema and Nomcebo were the other highly meritorious prizes granted that evening. This occasion showcases and honours the skills and accomplishments of performers with African and Afro-influenced styles in the music business.
