“BEJAMALEN (WITH BEAUTY)”HOW AFAQ ART PRODUCTION AND ZIAD KAMAL MERGE SUFI POETRY WITH CINEMATIC ORCHESTRAL BRILLIANCE

No Comments Review

The “Bejamalen” or “With Beauty” song, which is a remarkable new piece of music that came from the innovative Afaq Art Production & Distribution company, is one of my favorite songs of contemporary Arabic music. Written and composed by Sheikh Abd Al-Ghani Al-Umari Al-Hasani, this amazing qasida (Sufi-inspired) is full of spiritual themes like divine love, divine witnessing, sacred knowledge, and culminates in the praising of the Prophet Muhammad. This song was released on July 2nd, and now I can enjoy it completely.

The scene opens to a hauntingly atmospheric wide shot that is lit with theatrical lighting, panning across a simple set-up. The warm lighting on the traditional string instruments makes one immediately feel the sanctity and reverence that was in the ancient temple. The camera moves smoothly over the dark stage to show singer Ziad Kamal standing quietly in his custom-made black suit. Close-ups of his eyes capture emotions that shake inside him and the breath he controls before singing the first note of the song. The frame then expands to show the rising amber lights and Maestro George Kolta standing in front of the Syncop Orchestra. Close-ups of the violinists playing together, moving their bows, and of the percussionists feathering their rhythm are the visual interpretation of the gradual expansion of the arrangement. There are wide shots of the orchestra, then to Kolta alone playing the piano, then back to the orchestra. What comes next is a vocal performance. The performer’s rich voice has this smooth timbre as the camera moves from shooting him, Kolta, and the musicians from various angles. The vocal performance is simply ethereal as the song’s instrumentation shifts to traditional instrumentation before returning to its original orchestral vibe. While this is going on, we still see shots of Kolta playing the piano, and then there’s a brief moment where the traditional and the classical instruments are merged, and it’s breathtakingly beautiful. The music fades back down to a solo vocal tune. The scene slowly pulls back into a wide and fixed shot as the lights on stage begin to fade out, going into black and white when the credits roll.

In its essence, “Bejamalen (With Beauty)” is a poem that reveals the deep connection between worship, Sufism, and man’s quest for peace inside of himself. Using the language and imagery of spiritual poetry, the story told through the song and its visualization shows the process of man’s surrendering, praising, and admiration. Through the visuals of the song, the theme of the bridge-building between worlds is enhanced by the combination of the Eastern music of the instruments and the grand Western symphony orchestra arrangements.

Released under the revolutionary flag of Afaq Art Production & Distribution, Bejamalen (With Beauty), which made its debut on YouTube on July 2, 2026, is a breathtaking class in contemporary symphony and spiritual art. In essence, what makes up the core of the project is a rich soul inspired by the timelessness of Sufi poetry and compositions of Sheikh Abd Al-Ghani Al-Umari Al-Hasani. It all comes alive through the incredible voice work of Ziad Kamal, whose phrasing is a perfect combination of perfection and absolute transparency. Around his voice, there is the beautiful cinematic construction designed by the genius Maestro George Kolta, who takes care of orchestration and direction of this production in partnership with the Syncop Orchestra, effortlessly blending the instruments of the Eastern tradition with the symphonic traditions of the West. Each spatial detail is skillfully produced by the sound engineering and mixing of Eng. George Yacoub, making sure that each transition from soft traditional strings to full orchestra is absolutely clear. Bringing it all together is the visionary visual direction of Sherif Wahba, the accompanying music video of which turns the sound elegance into an amazing visual experience.

Established in 2021, the Egyptian record label Afaq Art Production has created a unique space for itself by focusing on one amazing mission: combining the powerful authenticity of Arabic culture through music and art with a modern vision, all motivated by the strong belief that music is the universal language that could help overcome any cultural gap. Bejamalen (With Beauty) is the absolute proof that the label has kept the holy vow, and it is just absolutely amazing. This fantastic release shows that music really has some incredible magic; it helps people learn something about distant cultures, open their hearts to different traditions, and find common ground with people regardless of the language of the lyrics being unknown. I cannot wait to hear their next release.
